Jul 03, 2010

Was sleeved on June 29th.  First night was the hardest and finally the heart burn is subsiding.  Walking has helped alot although I haven't been able to do too much.  It has been so freakin humid here and my strei strips keep coming loose from all my sweating  lol.  I bought extras just in case they come off before they are supposed to.

I look like I was in MMA with all the bruises that I have.....some were from the blood thinner I got four times, some are from when I helped my daughter and her hubby move the Monday before my surgery, and the rest I haven't a clue.  Maybe they rolled me on the floor while I was in surgery  (just kidding of course)

I was treated special as I was the second patient in Winnipeg to be sleeved.  Hospital areas were small and  no room to move but I always had nurses when I needed them.  Staff at Victoria Hospital here in the Peg were awesome.

Still taking a while to get all the water I need but it will happen in time.  I did get my protein in today.  OMG I bought this whey protein from Walmart and its called Vanilla shake and it is awesome...yummy and creamy.  I would highly recommend this to those that are looking for protein.

Thanks for all the support I have received from this site.

Thanks for the phone calls too...God, you guys are amazing and I am so blessed for you all.

June 23 - Day after pre-op Hospital Visit

Jun 23, 2010

Well the pre-op visit went well.  The nurse took me through everything that they are going to do on the 29th.  I felt relief and asked questions upon questions and she kept asking if there was anything else....Her name is Dawn and she ia a very personable individual.  And she told me that if I forgot anything that I wanted to ask, to write it down and on day of surgery, I will meet with Dr Andrews and he will answer anything else.

Then I met with the Anesthesia Nurse Clinician Lorena and she too was also awesome.

Went through all my medical history and the meds and she told me what will happen as well.  I feel bettter about the whole surgery now and am now just very excited and anxious.

Got my labs done and an EKG  and it's set.

I am down 18 lbs as of yesterday from the liquid diet, and that is also a good feeling.  I tried on and wore pants that I haven't been able to fit for a couple of years........6 more days, look out world, here I come!!!

June 20th

Jun 20, 2010

So was having a great day and then I went to my parents place for Father's Day.  My dad is always happy to say me and me him.  Then there is my mother....she is a piece of work.

She said that I am stupid for having the surgery as someone she knows had stomache cancer and had their stomach removed and she is in so much pain and wishes she didn't have it done.

I said "you know nothing of how my surgery will be performed and haven't even bothered to ask." I also told her that it is her opionion and she is welcome to it.  I've done the research, I know its the right choice for me.

She has never been supportive in my life once.....by her standards I've always been wrong, and stupid and don't know whats what.

I am so tired of that...really really tired.

I am always exhausted after visiting her.  My dad has my back but he doesn't rock the boat and get the 'dragon' going.

June 18th Day 4 of Meditrim Liquid diet.

Jun 18, 2010

Day 4-  today I didn't feel like I was going to make it through the day without straying and devouring food.  I got up and did other things so that I would distract myself.  Well I made it and am heading off to bed shortly---Phew, this was a tough day and glad that I stuck to my guns.

I know it will be tougher on the weekend but looks like the house will be very clean if I have to avoid food  LOL

Have a good one all and keep the faith.

Cheers!!!!!

June 17th Day 3

Jun 17, 2010

It looks like I have lost just about 10 lbs while being on this liquid pre-op diet.  I know that it is just water weight, as I am peeing like a racehorse every couple of hours, but I will take it at this moment
WOW - 12 more days!!!

I received a call from my Dr's office today asking how I was doing on the Medifast.  So nice that they are checking on me.  Was told she would call again next week to see how I am doing.

I am very proud of myself for not eating anything else that I am not allowed to eat.  Three days of this might not seem a lot to some but to me its a great deed.

And I feel okay still on this diet.  No headache today so all is fab.

June 16th - Day 2

Jun 16, 2010

The liquid diet today was a challenge.  I had 1 cup of broccoli and 1 cup of raw mushrooms  besides the 3 shakes and a few things went wrong today, like my car not starting this morning, then getting a call from my youngest's school telling me that she was sick (stomache flu going around) and having to go pick her up.

So I had to find a way home and go get her.

The joys of being a single parent
I also have a bit of headache but not sure if that's from lack of food or because of the heat today.  First sunny nice day in a long time.

Hope to get a decent sleep tonight and look forward to starting day three.

June 15th - First day of Liquid diet

Jun 15, 2010

Well, today was not a bad day at all.  I am just having my last shake for the day and then will eat my 2 cups of brussell sprouts (which I do love)

I had plain tea and loads of water today, and I haven't been irritable yet.  I know its the first day and all but I am very proud of myself.

My youngest was eating pizza pops for dinner and I thought the smell of food would make me feel deprived but again it is the first day on the LD and I haven't really been hungry.

I only have two flavours of the Medifast and they are of course vanilla and chocolate.  I am surprised by the flavour--not bad at all.  So today was VCV and tomorrow will be CVC and so on until my surgery day.  Have to mix it up literally and in general  lol  I will let you know if I am as jovial tomorrow

Jun 13, 2010

I cannot believe that in 16 days I wll be sleeved.

Someone has got to pinch me.....I thought time was dragging but all of a sudden everything seems to has sped up.

I start my protein shake diet with Medifast on Tuesday and hope it isn't a disgusting shake......I had some of my favorite foods this last week as kind of like a goodbye for now.

Can have again eventually but in moderation.

I am excited and worried and anxious, and thrilled and etc etc, well you get the picture!

My one daughter will be taking a picture of me and I will up load a few others of me before I start the Medifast.  Going to keep track of my weight before I start the protein diet, day of surgery, etc.

So here's to a new beginning...a life altering moment....to the good life!!!
