On 3/11/08, my new life began. I am truly lucky. Everything went well. I had really bad pain immediately after surgery. I used the morphine twice and slept it off. After that I was up eating ice and walking the halls to the hospital. I felt very uncomfortable, like I had done a ton of sit ups but not enough pain to take meds. I did well keeping everything down (broth, jello, tea & water) and had no problems going to the bathroom. Once I got home it was a different story. The head hunger was soo bad. I wanted everything I couldn't have. I was soo tired of soups, on my last day on my liquid diet I went to open a can of cream of chicken, I was soo sick. I had not even started eating it and I could feel it at the back of my throat. I just kept thinking to myself. I can do this. And I did. Yesterday 03/27 was my two week followup apt. I lost 20 lbs. I am thrilled. I am now able to eat soft foods. The dr. said I didn't have to puree if I made sure it was a soft consistancy and chewed very well. This is great news. I lost weight and I can eat!! I have had a scrambled egg, pot roast, cheese wrapped in shaved turkey meat. I guess what I am saying is in my opinion the liquid diet is the hardest part of it all. I am content right now and in hopes that everything will just get better
