The decision

I decided to have the bypass surgery.  I talked to my husband.  I talked to a few of my friends who have had the surgery (who are doing wonderful and look fabulous).  I talked with another friend who is on the same journey but has choosen the lap band for herself.  These people understand and support me.  There are others who are skeptical.  Those who are convinced if I just tried harder I could do this on my own.  Those who think it is far to risky to "elect" to have this done to myself.  I don't get it.  I don't get why they can't be happy and excited for me.  Could it be that they just don't understand what it is like to be obese? 
I don't know.  What I do know is that I have wasted too much of my life worrying about what everyone  else thinks.  That it is time for me to do what I need to do to be healthy.
