I didn't start out wanting to be a dietitian, but was interested in becoming a nurse.  Being a very organized kid, I decided early that I should gain some exposure in a hospital to see if I really wanted to become a nurse.  So I volunteered as a candy striper at Akron City Hospital at the ripe old age of 12.  I got to see lots of things on the floor under the watchful eye of the head nurse and decided that nursing wasn't for me.

This got me thinking about other areas of health care.  Unfortunately, my little brother had died a year earlier from complications of Type I diabetes, with which he was diagnosed at the age of 5.  I guess you could say that I had a light bulb moment when I came to realize how very important his diet had been in conjunction with the insulin he took.  As I researched what type of profession this would be, I came across the field of dietetics.  After that, I read and did everything I could to research this field.  I was accepted into the accelerated program in dietetics, which combined both classroom learning and an internship which allowed me to take the national registration exam right out of college.  I passed the exam in 1983 and have been practicing ever since.  I soon realized that I needed an advanced degree to accelerate in the field and decided on a Master's degree in exercise physiology.  This turned out to be a great combination as nutrition and exercise go hand in hand.

I truly love working with people and helping them learn how to deal more easily and effectively with conditions that are impacted by nutrition.  In my private practice, I am limited by the number of people that I can see in a day.  I was also moved by numerous calls from people who desperately needed professional nutrition therapy for which their insurance company would not pay and who could not afford one-on-one counseling in my office.  After all, this is how I make my living and I don't work for free.  This is why I started eNutritionCare.com.  We deliver the same personalized medical nutrition therapy that I provide in my office, from the comfort of home at a very reasonable price.  After all, this is the way of the future so why not use today's technology to help people.  And the story continues.......
