3rd Times a Charm??

Aug 27, 2007

Well, I went back in for my 3rd fill on Wednesday, Aug. 22nd...1 cc was added, to make a total of 3 cc's in my 4 cc band.  I was so ashamed and embarrassed, I almost cancelled my appointment becasue I didnt lose any weight at all, not even a 1/2 pound since my last fill. Tim was very supportive and made me feel that it was ok not to lose the weight, since I am losing some inches here and there (my wedding ring slipped off my finger, so now I have to wear a ring gaurd on it to keep it in place, and I'm always pulling up my jeans...yeah me!!! )

Its been 5 days since the last fill, and I'm already down 8 pounds...is this possible??  Is my scale broke, or am I reading the numbers wrong??  Whatever it is...I love this feeling I am getting!!  It's like a euphoric high, and its keeping me on track as far as my food choices and exercise plan go.

Today marks 3 years since I married my husband, and we had some rough times in the very beginning (his health issues) and the stress of it all is when I began to gain my weight back after the last diet.   As of this morning, I am only 20 pounds from the weight I was when we first met....how awesome would it be on our 4th anniversary to actually weigh less than when we met?!?!?

Hubby has been very supportive of me for the most part, but I still have to remind him that when he does the grocery shopping, there is no need to bring me cookies and chocolate....*giggle*   Oh well, the kids enjoy the special treats on occasion, and I dont let hubby shop very often.

My next appointment is scheduled for Sept 19th...and I want to walk in there with my head held high and show them that I CAN and WILL do this!!  Is it an impossible goal to want to be at least 20 pounds lighter than I was at the last appointment? Thats only a 12 pound difference, and I have a little over 3 weeks to do it in....

...Stay Tuned!!!

Another Fill...

Jul 25, 2007

Another fill (1cc) today, I now have a total of 2 cc in my 4 cc band. I sure hope this does the trick, and keeps the hunger pains at bay.  I was almost ashamed to go into the office today, because  I have not lost any weight since my visit 4 weeks ago. None! Nodda! Zip! Zilch!!

Ok, I have lost a few pounds, but gain them right back...lose, gain, lose, gain...same vicious cycle I was on in my pre-band days. *sniff sniff*  I'm beginning to think this isnt going to work for me....I follow the rules, eat high protein, low carbs, no sweets or snacks, no carbonated fluids, and I'm very careful to get in all my fluids and then some!! I know I could up my exercise, but I am so frustrated by this whole process that I keep losing my incentive....same as my pre-band days :(

My first fill of 1 cc didnt even phase me, but today, I actually felt my band tighten up some during the fill...so, I'm still holding out hope that I will have some sort of restriction. My personal goal is to lose at least 15 pounds, hoping for 20 before my next appointment!!

Where Has The Time Gone?

Jun 27, 2007

Well, here it is, 5 weeks since surgery and I'm still alive!! Hungry, but alive!!
Surgery itself went great...the hospital portion of it left a lot to be desired, but  Dr. Hoehn was/is awesome!!  Healing was a little longer than I expected, the shoulder pain was the worst ever, but like I said...I'm alive!!
I've lost a total of 29 pounds since my initial seminar (highest weight) and went for my first fill today. I was given 1 cc in my 10 cm band (it only holds 4 cc's total) I'm hoping that this will control the hunger I have been feeling over the last week or so, and that it will help get the weight loss back on track, its been non-existent for the last week or so, too. (I really need to work on my language skills...lol)

I'll be going back in 4 weeks to get another fill, if I need one.  (July 25th at 1:45 pm)

Surgery Date!!

52 Hours and 15 Minutes....

Apr 23, 2007

...Then I find out my surgery date!! I have a pre-op appointment with my surgeon on Wednesday, April 25th @ 3:15 pm!!   I'm hoping I can get the lap band surgery done before school is out, and that is the 3rd week of May...so we'll see what happens. I know the recovery time will be much easier if I dont have all the kids home, and can have some time by myself (Hubby will be just down the road at his office if I need anything!!)
Wish Me Luck!!

The insurance company received my papers on Friday the 13th...lol....and today, I received a letter in the mail saying I am approved for the lap band surgery!! I called the surgeon's office, and left a message so I can get my pre-op appointment scheduled...and a surgery date!!

Submitted to Insurance!!

I received a phone call from Billie at Dr. Hoehn's office last night to tell me that she mailed my papers off to the insurance office for a determination! Wow...the ladies at the office are so on the ball with all of this! I was sure I had another long wait ahead of me. I will wait until Friday to call the insurance company and see if they got the papers, if not, Billie said she would resend them.  Wish me luck!!

The Waiting Game is Back On...

Apr 09, 2007

I finished all my appointments, had the last one with the psych on Saturday...he ok'd me for surgery!! Now all I have to do is sit back and wait for all the reports to be sent to the Surgeon's office, and they will file with the insurance company. Sounds easy, doesn't it? Just sit back and wait?!  This is the hardest part for me so far...and the waiting just started!! LOL  Maybe I'll take up knitting just to keep my mind off things! LOL

The Ball is Rolling!!

Apr 05, 2007

What a busy last few weeks!!  I got all my appointments, saw the pulmonologist, had a sleep study done, went to the NUT consult, and this Saturday, I have my psych eval to look forward to!  I also spoke with my insurance company once again, and both ladies I talked to were confident that I would be approved for the lap band if all the required reports are submitted...and with Nola's help at Dr. Hoehn's office, that should be no problem!!

I'm not going to count my chickens before they hatch, though, just in case something doesnt go right after the first submission....besides, I dont want to get my hopes up prematurely, just to be shot down. I'll celebrate when I have that approval letter in my hand!!

Pulmonologist Appointment~3/26/07
Sleep Study~3/29/07
Nutritional Consult~3/30/07

I Got the Oil!!

Mar 23, 2007

I did receive a phone call back that same afternoon....and again two days later (both of which were very tearful...but not in the good way)

To make what could be a very lengthy post much shorter...I do have my appointments with the NUT and Psych, and also have to see a pulmonologist (past history of smoking). After these reports are sent to the Surgeon's office, they will submit them to my insurance.

I attended the first of many support group meetings last night....very informative and I met quite a few wonderful people who have already gone through this process and offered up lots of good information for me!!  I'm actually looking forward to next month's meeting!!
