Well I had my preop appt yesterday and registered at the hospital. I think I talked to about 10 diffrent people but not my dr. I signed the release for my RNY and gallbladder but they said they're not sure if he'll remove my gallbladder. I hope he does I already have gallstones that cause a cramping pain and I sure don't want to have it removed later. I weighed 278.5 so I have lost a little a whole pound and a half. When I left Zale to go back to the drs. building to get my car I got totally lost I kept asking for directions but I think I kept going in circles I ended up at Parkland so then i had to go back to Zale then i still couldn't find the Aston center probally cause i was on the wrong side. I never thought I would get to my car and when I did my legs hurt and I was out of breath. I felt like I walked 5 miles through all those tunnels and endless hallways I wanted a cigarette ( I didn't crave one) because I was frustrated but I am happy to say this is day 5 smoke free. Oh yeah this was some helpful info if you are separated even for 5 years they try to contact your husband for any medical decisions that need to be made. I would die waiting on them to find him in Chiapas Mexico there is not even a phone for 20 miles on the ranch, there is at the house in Las Margaritas but he doesn't go there except 2x a month. So I made an advanced medical directive for my mom and dad to make my decisons until my kids get of age if I was ever unable to do so. Needing that did not even cross my mind the last time I had surgery was in 1995. I was not put to sleep for other procedures. The nutritionist did the body composition analizer and it said fat to lose 103 lbs and predicted weight 172.5. I was not very happy with those numbers I know I will never be 105 again but 130- 140 sure would be great. She said its not imposiible but for me to have 30% body fat would be what she said. Oh well they have their goal and I have mine. Well enough for now got lots to do.  

SURGERY NEXT TUESDAY!!!!!!!!!!!  I got a call from Lois this morning at Dr. Provosts' office I have preop tomorrow and surgery tuesday 1/23/07. 4 days to pre op diet, clear liqids for 1 then surgery date. I have been so excited today I called everyone I knew. My mom had to change her flight at 1st I didn't think she was gonna be able to make it. But I was determined one way or another I would have my surgery. My grandmother has been a real downer during all this, she never says anything positive. But most families always have atleast one negative member. I am so glad things worked out that my mom is coming for 3 weeks that in itself makes me feel better. The kids were out of school today because of ice, so my son went with me to my Psychiatrist I had an appointment for the 25th but got lucky it was bad weather and I could change it for today. I feel so lucky today that is something I haven't felt for a while. Luck has really been on my side My consult was suppose to be 1/5/07 instead I got in 11/06 due to cancellation. My surgery was suppose to be 2/16/07 but now it's 1/23/07. I got into my Psych today due to cancellations. Stephanie told me this is my year, wait about 3 months and see how great I feel. I feel so great right now and I think it is only gonna get better. Also i started chantix 9 days ago and have been smoke free for 2 days. I think can life get any better than this... before my answer would have been no. Now my answer is Hell Yes it's just gonna get better. Maybe all this is because my positive attitude right now, or I'm ready for the changes now whatever it is I'm glad it's here and it's gonna stay. Well gonna go for now.

I am so glad she is coming           3/08/07 mom leaves to go back to ky but I know I have plenty of support from the North Texas Support Group and everyone on OH. I am so excited to start losing. I am finally gettin over my bronchitis and ear infections. Went back to doctor and had gotten worse not just lower but upper lungs also, I was so miserable. But now I'm feeling great I don't know if it is the steroids, or this amazing cough syrp hycotuss, she also gave me a z-pack antibiotic. This cough syrup is so strong I can not drive while taking it. Thank god my daughter has her permit. If 1 teaspoon does this to me now I am pretty sure after surgery it would really put me in a tailspin. lol Well I'm headed to bed. catch u next time. Michelle

Attended 2 support groups this week. The north texas support group I enjoyed alot more, than the UTSW support group When I got there I was late because I couldn't find the place. Then when I left I was about scared to leave not a good area at night. Next time I go to I will definately not go alone. I am so excited still about my surgery. I can not wait till my date gets here, I am hoping to get my nutrition appt. scheduled soon. I havre alot of questions to ask. I am suppose to be getting a packett in the mail but it stilll has not come yet. Maybe I will get it tomorrow. Will post when I have more info. Michelle

Well I got my call today HOORAY!!!!!! I go on 2/13/07 for my pre op with Dr. Provost and then unto Zale to do my pre op testing. And my surgery is scheduled for friday 2/16/07. I can not wait to start on the losing side. I am so excited. And it only took me about 5 months total since I decided on lap RNY till my surgery date. Thank god. I have read so many others post where it took them years. I have been so pleased with Dr. Provosts office. I am also so greatful for this site, the forums, and all of the great ppl on here who are very positive and helpful. I am hoping to attend my first support mtg next week. Will post more when i have diffrent news.

I sent email to Dr. Provost office with new meds I am on now, Dr. I now am seeing and new medical problems. To my great surpise Lois emailed me back on my chart in about 1 hour. Very good time I think. She also told me that surguries will be being scheduled next week. So I am excited and waiting to get the call. I have read other peoples post about offices not getting back to them and so on. But my experience has been great if I call albert about something he always contacts me back. We spoke alot about what was needed in the Psych letter. And I was really impressed with Lois getting back to me in an hour about my new info. I just thought they needed to be kept informed about my meds and new conditions. Which I guess was the correct thing to do, cause she got back to me quickly. Technology is such a wonderful thing. I encourage you all to use MyChart it is a great tool.

I have had my psych eval and all went well there. So now I just have to wait for that phone call with my surgery date. I will jump up and down and yell from the rooftops when I get that call! I recently was diagnosed with C.O.P.D. and high cholesterol so I feel I can not get this surgery soon enough. I keep doing research and finding out all I can about gastric bypass. Today I ran across a good and humorous site so I thought I would include it here www.basilwhite.com then go to his gastric bypass page. Will post again later.

Began researching WLS at the end of october. Contacted UTSouthwestern Center around 11/10/06. Waited for the call for a consult date. They called on the 17th with a Jan. 5, 2007 consult with DR. Rivas. I was kind of disappointed I had to wait so long, so I called back on 11/20/06 and said if they had any cancellations and could notify me and hour in advance I could make it since I'm not working. They were very nice and said they would put me on the list. 11/21/06 I got a great call saying Dr. Provost had a 3 o'clock consult available due to a patient cancelling. Today is my lucky day!!!!!! Of course I took the appt. I met with Dr. Provost, the nurse, dietician, and financial. It took about and hour and a half. I am lucky I just got my medicare and QMB, so I will be out no money for this surgery. I so greatly need. I was told I would probally have a surgery date for January or Febuary. I can't wait and will keep you posted to whats going on. Current weight 280 lbs.
