My story began so long ago. I remember being in weight watchers as a young teen. I was the youngest person there. I remember giving Jenny Craig hundreds of dollars for frozen meals. It was not till January I went to a seminar with my young daughter because I had no babysitter. I was determined to make that first step. It was a start....Six or seven months later I was having weight loss surgery. I stayed on track with the liquid diet which was murder. People thought I was crazy. family members and friends said they were supportive but none really understood. I got the " you don't look like you need to lose that much weight" or " You are not that big" See I am 6' tall...My fr am was large!!! My before surgery weight was 378 lbs. That number was so disappointing. I knew that If I wanted to stop the weight loss I had no choice but to act now. The African American community is dealing with an serious obesity problem. Health has to be taken seriously. I no longer want to be the typical obese big booty girl. Don't get me wrong. I was a Fly, Sexy Big Girl but I was not healthy. I was living in denial. My weight loss journey is still very young. I am not even close to my goal but I am finally enjoying working out. The results can be seen and it is a great motivator. I am focused!!!
