Kathleen G.
Well I started my new Life on April 24, 2006. I have been overweight most of my adult life. I have slowly put the weight on after I had all three of my children, but it didn't stay on until I got older. I have tried every diet form that was on the market, I lost but only to gain it all back plus a lot more.
In the last 5 years I developed diabeties, high blood pressure, high cholestrol, gerd. My health was going down hill fast. I knew I had to do something. Also my arthritis in my knees was affecting me having hardly any activities, as I hurt so bad to walk or even get out of a chair.
My orthopedic doctor told me to try the wls before a knee replacement, since I would have to have if I didn't lose the weight. So I did the consultation with the WLS doctor closest to me. Went though the whole process, got a surgery date, and then two weeks before my surgery was scheduled, the nurse for the doctors office called and told me that my insurance had changed their policy and that hospital or doctor was not qualify to do my surgery. So I had to get on the www and do some more research to find a place that my insurance would pay. Found a list of places closest to me and started calling. I made an appointment with Dr. Gerald Cahill, in Evergreen Park and when I called they told me tat yes my insurance would pay. So I went to my appointment, since I had already gone though all my evalations Dr Cahill didn't make me go though them again. I told my record for the first doctor with me so that they would have a idea what I did. Dr. Cahill ran a lot more tests, and prodcedures to make sure I was up to the surgery, told me what to expect, how many of these surgeries he performed, and anything else that he thought was something I needed to know
So my surgery went off as scheduled. I was excited and really nervous and I had to do this prodcedure along. I couldn't get any of my family members to go with me. At that time they were not supporting me in my decision. I didn't have any complications and everything with as smoothy as possible.
I am now just 6 months post-op and down 100 lbs. I feel better, look better and have so much more energy to burn now. I don't like to sit around as much as I use to. My knees dont bother me to much now, just alittle compared to this time last year.
I have about 86 to 92 more pounds to go and I will be at my goal. Wish me luck.
I WANT TO THANK MY GREAT FRIEND BARB, (SOXY_LADY) FOR THIS BEAUTIFUL PROFILE. SHE DID A WONDERFUL JOB. THANKS SOXY_LADY, MY HAT IS OFF TO YOU.
