Onederland!

Dec 15, 2006

I am so excited to say that I am finally in onederland!  On my scale I was 198.2, a 3.8 lb. weight loss in a week and total in 6 weeks of 24.8 lbs!   I am sure it's because I started exercising at Curves again!

Week 4 Weigh In

Dec 11, 2006

Hi Everyone!  I've been busy and lazy and haven't posted...I got on the scale last Friday and lost another 1.2 lbs...202 on my home digital scale.   I'm a slow loser for sure!  So since 11/3, my last pre-op appt when I weighed 223, I am down 21 lbs.  I feel great and my face is thinner and my clothes are loose or fitting better.  I got into some 16's...the 2x's are mostly history at this juncture.  I hope to be in onederland by the 21st, the date of my next doctor's appointment.  My diabetes control is now a little better.  I am taking januvia and metformin but I still think the readings are high.  We'll see what the doctor wants to do...she is stumped because most of her patients go off all meds and my body is being so stubborn!  The best news is that I went back to Curves and I am so glad to be back to my exercise routine!  I also am investigating getting a personal trainer.  They are pretty expensive though...a guy at work recommended a contraption he uses daily called the AB Lounge so I bought one today at Bed and Bath with my 20% coupon (saved $20) and I will start using it.  I posted my one month post op photos, I can see a difference.

Weigh In

Dec 01, 2006

December 1, 2006....weighed myself today on my new home scale.  I was 203.2 which calculates to 20.1 lbs lost since 11/3, 4 weeks ago and 6 days before surgery.  I still feel great.  Had some shrimp tonite but after eating 4, my pouch couldn't take anymore....I think I didn't chew enough and they just l settled there, an uncomfortable feeling.  Monday I see the endocrinologist to discuss what to do about my high blood sugars which are completely out of control.  I'm taking 500 mg. of metformin twice a day but it hasn't made a dent.  I suspect the tablets are not getting absorbed properly.   I hope to be in onderland next week!  Let's hope so.

Back To Work

Nov 27, 2006

Started back to work yesterday....no problems there!  I took off at a good time, between sports seasons so it's been quieter.  I was very rested and ready for the winter season to begin!  I still feel great and have energy and am not tired.  Many people told me how good I looked!  Some know and some do not!

Week 2 Down A Little More

Nov 24, 2006

Just returned from my week 2 post op appointment!  I am down another 3.4 lbs. to 205.4 lbs....which totals 11.9 lbs for 2 weeks and 15.9 since 11/7 when I started on clear liquids pre-op!  The doctor, his nurse and the nutritionist are all pleased and say I am doing well!  I feel great, less bloated and my face is thinner!  My clothes are loose and I have so much energy.   I can have soft foods now and a little special K high protein cereal once in a while if I want to.  Next time I see the doctor (11/21) I should be in onderland!

My mom made Thanksgiving dinner.  I had carrot soup, dark meat turkey, green beans and about a tasteful of yams.  I was stuffed!

It's a nice day here in NJ so I will take a walk later!

Drum Roll...........

Nov 17, 2006

11/17/06 - Ok drum roll....I am down 8.5 lbs since surgery....tipping the scales at 208.8.  I was hoping for 10 lbs but the doctor and his staff says I'm doing great!  The most amazing thing is that I am not hungry!  I started on purees today.  I had 2 oz. of tuna blended with mayo and chicken broth and after 40 min. couldn't finish it all.  I'm finding the protein shake hard to finish!  So I'm on 3 "meals" a day of protein, tuna, eggs, cottage cheese, ricotta cheese, fish, chicken, turkey, and 40 grams of protein from shakes.  The Nut. wants me to have "real" meals no soups or mashed potatoes, etc.  The doctor was so wonderful, he is so caring and sweet.  He actually hugged and kissed me today.......sure feels nice to be kissed by a younger man who isn't a relative!  My blood sugars are still elevated and that concerns me so we are carefully watching them.  I guess my body is in shcok now after having taken so many meds and now nothing.

Day 7 Post Op - feeling wonderful

Nov 15, 2006

Today is Day 7 Post Op.  I am tolerating all of my liquids well.  I got alot of water in today.  I didn't feel hungry and when I do have something I do feel full!  I put on a pair of stretch jeans that fit perfectly and they feel a little big!  I have no pain at all!  I don't even feel like Ihad surgery!  It is getting boring at home, I am an active person and don't like being cooped up in the house.  I did the 1 mile Walk Away the Pounds DVD today...I had no trouble with it.  Tomorrow is Dr. J-B's support group...I can't wait to go as a post-op!  I am one of the family now!  Friday is my follow up with the group and I will post more then!

Big Day

Nov 12, 2006

It's November 13 and I just talked to the nutritionist who says I can have some milk liquids today....hooray!  So I'm going to fix myself a half packet of carnation instant breakfast with 4 oz of skim milk and sip that for one hour!  I haven't been sipping much water and she said today I must start so I will also do that!  I can also have a few tiny spoons of sf pudding and some cream of wheat...I have to keep sipping all day without stopping, one sip every 2-3 minutes for 16 hours!  Wow!  I cannot have protein shakes or protein liquids till at least Friday, bummer!  But I'm glad that I can start with the carnation!  My body aches have almost completely subsided.  The nut. stressed movement as much as possible!

Feeling Better!

Nov 11, 2006

It's November 12, Day 3 Post Op and I'm feeling much better.  I am less achey and was actually able to put away some laundry!  I am not sleeping through the night with the pain meds but hopefully that will get better!  I think I will be able to manage with the body aches today and won't need assistance getting up from sitting on the couch!  I would still be interested to know why my body reacted this way!  Today I start my 2 oz/hour clear liquids!  Water doesn't seem to cut it as my pouch is growling!  Guess it's broth for me!  My blood sugars are in check, I haven't taken any meds since Thursday when I got 2 units of insulin in the hospital right after surgery.  I want to check with the endocrinologist tomorrow to see what she thinks.  All in all I'm expecting a pretty good recovery!

Day 2 Post Op

Nov 10, 2006

Ok, it's Day 2 Post Op and my body feels like I have weights on it!  I have shoulder, neck, leg and arm pain.  I think I was manipulated on the operating room table.  My husband had to help me out of bed today, I couldn't even lift my head up!  I will try to walk today and continue with the pain meds although they probably won't help for the muscular stuff.  Will continue my 1oz per hour too!  I got in about 11 oz yesterday!   Will update later!
