More GREAT news with a minor setback

Sep 18, 2008

Well, today my insurance company APPROVED me for surgery!  Whooohooo!

Minor setback - My date is now officially 10/28, in oppose to 10/21.  As explained before, my surgeon is of an Orthodox Jewish faith.  He thought the Orthodox Jewish holidays went through the week ending 10/18, when they in fact go through the week ending 10/25.  So, all scheduled surgeries for the week ending 10/25 have been rescheduled.

Again, it's a small setback, but what I am grateful for is it's only been postponed a week.  It could have been worse.

Additionally, I went for my Pulminary test today.  So that now completes the Echocardigraham and the Pulminary.  I have chest x-rays and blood work left, all scheduled for the beginning of October (due to all being required within 30 days of surgery).

That's all for now.  Not all that bad, huh?

Feeling Pretty Good!

Sep 14, 2008

Well, tomorrow starts another busy week with making appointments.  I plan on getting this pulminary thing out of way first, as it seems that is the hardest to get an appointment for.  Next week, I'll begin setting up the last two appointments, being with my primary for the blood work and chest x-rays, as again, those must be within 30 days of the surgery.

I'll be sure to keep everyone posted on more as I have it.

Ps - Ya'll see my hair!  Ugh!  I am SO DAMN ANAL about it.  I'm prepared for it to thin a bit, as my mother's did, but I hope to God, it doesn't thin that much.  I think I'll die!    I've already started my Bioten to strengthen it prior to surgery.  Mom took 3000 mg of it daily and had her fullness back in about two months.  Ugh!  Thank God it'll be Winter while all of this is going down.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Sep 09, 2008

I GOT MY DATE!  OMG!  It's scheduled for 10/21!!!!  I AM SO EXCITED I COULD DO A BACK FLIP (be sure to focus on the word COULD, b/c we all know that if I tried it, I would kill myself...haha!)

I was a little concerned with the month in a half window of time between now and then, but firstly, everything happens when it's supposed to and second, seeing my surgeon is of a Jewish faith and there are several Jewish holidays approaching at the ending of this month and the beginning of October, it limits how many surgeries he's able to preform.  It's all good thought because guess what....................................................?

I GOT MY DATE!

Peace and blessings all!

Today's Meet With the Surgeon

Sep 08, 2008

So, it didn't go exactly as planned, but it wasn't all that bad either.

1 - With my BMI being over 50, he requires some additional testing, which is fine, b/c I'm making all appointments first thing tomorrow morning!

2 - I didn't get an actual date b/c by the time he saw me (mind you I was last), the person who issued the appointment had already left for the evening.  The good part is that he suggested I call first thing tomorrow morning for a date!  So, again, not that bad at all!

Well, that all I have for now.  As of this very moment, my primary functions are to get my blood work, EKG, Lung Expansion and physical done.  So he says, if I jump on making the appointments tomorrow and see everyone within the next two weeks, then we are still on for the ending of September, the first week in September being the latest!

So, after all, things really were not that bad.  As always, there are a few stumps in the road, but nothing yet has actually stood in my way.

Tommorw, I meet with my surgeon!

Sep 07, 2008

Well, I haven't been on in a while, I guess b/c there hasn't been much to say.  All has really been quiet.  Tomorrow; however, I meet with my surgeon to HOPEFULLY get a surgery date.  Ugh!  You have no idea how anxious I am and nervous at the same time.

I'll have more after tomorrow.

A shock!

Aug 30, 2008

Ok - SO, I had the nerve to get on the damn scale today and I weigh 340!  4 pounds isn't that much, but damn!  I really hope it was b/c of the shirt I had on.

Another step forward

Aug 29, 2008

Well, I guess the nutri wasn't a fluke.  No lie, I was really expecting to never hear anything from this woman ever again in life.  Oh - Did I share that I paid her the $140 in cash and had forgotten to get a receipt???  Right!  Stupid move, but I was so taken back by our session, I'd totally forgotten.

Anyway - She called and left me a message this morning.  She explained that she forgot to present me with a receipt and with that, she's placed one in the mail.  Maybe I should keep my mouth shut until I get it, right?  Ha!  She also mentioned that yesterday, she's forwarded my surgeon the report.  In checking with him, he's received it.

So - Again, another positive step forward. Just wanted to share.

Visit with my nutri

Aug 27, 2008

Well, I met with my nurti yesterday and wasn't impressed.  The beginning went well, in terms of conversation; however, once she saw that we were babbling too much, she quickly skimmed through the rest of the session.

It wasn't what I expected at all.  I mean, she covered how to read a nutrition label, the food chart (basically showing me what foods I need to incorporate into my diet after surgery) and that was about it.

I was expecting her to FIRST OFF cover what in the hell I need to do when I first get home.  I mean, was I expecting too much?  Seriously, if I am wrong, tell me.  Maybe that information will be covered by my surgeon, who I meet with on 9/8.

I'll relax for now, but as of now, I feel my $140 was wasted!
