Here's my story.
I'm a mother of 5 (22,17,12,1yrs) hoping to have the gastric sleeve. Had my first child at 15yrs of age. With every pregnancy I have gained and gained weight. Losing and gaining a few pounds with some diets. The most I have lost is 42 lbs in 2007, but then boom I got pregnant right away with my last child. I have been overweight all my life. I can't remember ever being thin. I've always wanted to be thin and to be able to wear the nice clothes every thin person can wear. I guess that's every woman's happiness... right? Anyway, I always thought WLS was a no, no for me, but last year when I had my son, and developed asthma, I began to rethink it. It's time to do something for myself and kids. As we start getting older we start developing illnesses especially if we are overweight. I started looking into WLS when I was working at a previous job last year. My ex-boss had it done 10yrs ago and informed me of the pros and cons. I've been doing some research and I've made up my mind. I have to have surgery! I know surgery is a tool and I will try to use it as best as I can. O originally went for the RNY but my insurance denied it. I appealed it and got denied twice. I filed for a State Hearing which I'm still waiting. I decided to look into self pay options and after researching, I think VSG is for me, but my insurance won't cover VSG they only cover RNY or LapBand. So I'm trying to save some $ to do it overseas. I know I can't afford to do it in the US. I've looked into doctors in Mexico, Colombia and the Dominican Republic. I will keep everybody posted on what's going on.
