2 weeks post-op

Apr 21, 2009

It's been two weeks since surgery. I made it through the liquid diet and now eating a soft diet. So far a baked potato has been the best treat yet! I've lost 17 lbs since I left the hospital Apr 9th. I feel good. I did get an infection in one incision and I'm having to nurse it but I still walk and try to stay as healthy as possible in the mean time. I'm looking forward to going back to the gym.

It's Almost Time..

Mar 28, 2009

My husband had the gastric bypass on 3/19/09 and is doing fabulous! He is eating right and exercising like he should and gets as much rest as possible. Surgery has proven to be the right choice for him. He has lost 14 lbs in 9 days. I have finished my bloodwork, ECO, and gaul bladder ultrasound. I am scheduled for 4/3 for pre-op and then 4/6 is surgery! I'm so excited to have this done. I can hardly wait to finally go to the gym and eat right while actually seeing results and to have the weight STAY off!!

Approved!

Mar 12, 2009

After alot of debating with the insurance company I was approved on 3/6/09 for the Gastric Bypass surgery. Surgery is scheduled for 4/6/09. I'm anxious for the surgery to be over so I can start my new healthy life.

Insurance Company ... UGGHH

Jan 23, 2009

Well.. not good news from the insurance company. While recovering from my hysterectomy in the hospital the insurance company calls to tell me yet again that they did not receive enough documentation from the doctor regarding my 6-month weigh-ins. This is so ridiculous. The doctors are great though and doing everything they can to help me get approved. Keeping my fingers crossed that something gives soon!

Waiting is the hardest part ??

Jan 18, 2009

Today is January 18, 2008. I have done my sixth months of weigh-ins, scheduled my psych eval and nutritionist appointments and am hopefully going to get good news from the insurance company in a couple of weeks.

Like most, I have been struggling with my weight and have tried too many diets to mention to only gain the weight back and then some. I haven't been overweight my whole life, just the last 12 years I would say. Two kids and two divorces pretty much did it for me. I now weigh my all-time high of 269 lbs at age 40. I really didn't picture me looking like this at 40.

My goal is to weigh around 140-145 which is about 15 lbs over what the guidelines say I should weigh. I'm trying to be realistic. I look forward to being able to keep up with my grandkids, feel better about myself and not be so disgusted every time I look in the mirror. I can't tell you how many times I've said, "Michelle, why did you do this to yourself". My husband and I have some fabulous hobbies. Aside from fun with the kids, grandkids, family, and friends we love to ride our motorcycles. We love to travel. I am so looking forward to sight-seeing without being exhausted, swollen all over, and out-of-breath. I, unlike my husband, enjoy going to the gym and working out. Neither one of us have good eating habits anymore. We used to and now we do but it's off and on. I've read so many testimonies on here and it has made more eager to get started with this so I have to say so far that the waiting is the hardest part.
