RNY SURGERY

After months and months of waiting I finally had my surgery yesterday!  I was so nervous.  I came into the hospital and was taken to the holding room.  My family was able to go back with me so that helped my nerves!  My surgeon came in the room and congratulated me on losing 16 lbs. on the presurgery liquid diet.  I was quite proud of that myself because I have never been able to stick to anything like that.  He also put to rest any lingering fears that I had.  The last thing I remember is joking with my anesthesiologist and then it was lights out!  I came to in the recovery room and this has become to me the worst part of the whole experience.  I didn't even realize the surgery had taken place at first!  There was a tube in my nose and air blowing in my face.  I kept feeling like I was choking.  There was also a man three beds down that kept moaning loudly.  I was terrified!!!  I was finally taken to my room and it has been smooth sailing since then.  I was up going to the restroom on my own within hours.  An few hours later I was making laps around the nurses desk.  Today is the second day and I haven't experienced very much pain at all.  I do have some tenderness at the incisions but it is absolutely tolerable.  I am shocked at how pleasant this whole experience had been.  I hope my journey continues to go this smoothly!
