It has been a while.....

Feb 26, 2011

Lots has happened since my last post in July.  We had a daughter born 7/10 and she is so sweet and beautiful.....  We are very blessed.  Although she is adopted, i feel no difference and feel she is of my own flesh and blood.

With the weight loss, i am now down 93 lbs and am now able to be very active.  I work out with weights 3x/week and do cardio 5-6 times a week.  I feel so good and can fit in so many of my clothes from 10 years ago.  Glad i didnt throw out those name brand jeans and other clothes form many years ago.

New goal.....   Beach in June and it will be my daughters first vacation, so i wan tot hit my goal of 250 early, so i am in high gear to lose this last 32 lbs in 4+ months.

1 year already.......

Jun 30, 2010

Well today is my bandiversary.  I am down about 80 lbs and feel great.   I was 375, now about 295.  I have to admit i only lost abouit 10 lbs since december.  But the important thing is that I can not gain weight with this awesome tool.

Furthermore, I must say that i have been taking it easy and enjoying life.  My next year goal is to lose the last 45-50 lbs.  I need a couple more fills and to get serious.   But i do feel healthy and happy nad that was my main goal.  I am 6'3" and weigh 295#  so i look decent and am not embarrased about my looks.  I still would hesitate if i had to tak emy shirt off for some reason, but i dont sweat it as much as I would have before LB weight loss.

To everyone wondering about my first year experience.... I would say that looking back, I t was so easy.  Maybe i was lucky, but no complications and 80lbs in one year.

Now i have to get serious and loise the last 40-50 lbs..........

Tw-Onderland .....finally.....woo hooo

Mar 20, 2010

Well actually it came pretty fast.  It has been 8 1/2 months since banding and i feel awesome, inside and out.  Maybe i am just lucky but i have no NO complications and can eat most of the things i love, just reasonable amounts.  Yea i still puke time to time, but im still learning my band.

Goal 1 accomplised under 300 by 3/20 B-day.  As of Physical yesterday which i am told i am the picture of health minus the slight weight issue.  Weighed in at 299.....Woo hoo.....

Next goal 275 bu Aniversary at July 1.  SO i have 3 1/2 months to lose 25, shouldnt be a problem now that the weather has broke and Spring is here.

Also expecting to adopt a baby girl due in June -July, Life is good right now.....Woohoo....

2nd Fill.....

Oct 26, 2009

Well i got 1.5 cc added to my band on 10/23/09. So that makes 3.5 cc in a 10 cc band.  I still really dont feel that much restriction as i was hoping for.  But i will make it work.  At this point I have been able to go to the gym and actually get in a really good workout.  I am jogging on the treadmill up to 15 minutes at 5.0mph.  Also after a quick workout wiith weights i have taken up swimiming and i love it.  I am able to swim up to 24 laps so far, that is 3/4 of a mile.  I really feel great after getting out of the pool.

I really have to concentrate on my diet more as i have been stuck at the 320- 325 lb. mark for the past 6 weeks.  Hopefully now with the new fill, i can eat on a regulated path.

A tip for newbies..... I find that if i have coffee in the morning it helps me not eat for a while.  Problem with that is that when you do that you dont get your protein in and your body may slow its metabolism.  Plus, you will be starving and probably make some bad decisions on your next meal.   Solution..... I mix a scoop or 2 with skim milk.  After the protein mix is dissolved in the milk, i then add the coffee.  So now you have your coffee and 30 -60 grams of protein, depending on your protein brand.   I use Weider whey protein powder, vanilla from Walmart.  It is about $14 a container and lasts a long time.  26 grams of protein per scoop.   Good Luck.

Bandster hell.......

Sep 17, 2009

OK so it has been about 10 1/2 weeks and i have been doing very well.  Im down about 50 lbs since surgery.  I was filled on the 10th....with 2cc in my 10 cc band.  I have had no complications and healed very well.  Also my fill was a breeze.  A little pinch or 2 then the fill.

I have been jogging and working out lightly either with free weighhts or hitting the heavy bag.  I am feeling so much better, both physically and mentally.  Even with a little set back, being laid off, i have maintained a positiove outlook.  I have been out of work before and really get depressed and feel like a useless piece of crap.  Now i am taking the time to apply for jobs that i want and spending time helping myself reach my short and long term heath goals.

I must admit it was not a good day today though.  My wife was at work and i sat in the house all day...no exercise, just ate, ate and ate.  i probably gained 5 pounds today...seriously.  but i do know that tomorrow i will run at least a mile and workout while eating very clean.  I wish i was a meal to meal guy iso a day to day guy.  That meaning, when i screw up my diet i wait until the next day to correct it iso the next meal.   I am realistic and realize that even though i have lost 50 lbs in the first 10 weeks, my goal is 100lbs in my first year.

I cant wait to be in twonderland.  It has been some time.  One always thinks, including myself...."If i didnt work, it would be so easy.  I would just workout all day".  Im sure we alll said that before.  Easier said than done.  You need alot of motivation and be a great self-starter.  Not many of us are.......

To conclude this 2nd post.  For anyone reading this i will try to update first of every month  to report any progress or stall.  Hopefully on Oct 24th, when i get my 2nd fill, I will be able to get some restriction.  This is pretty hard to lose weight with no restriction.  Must be consistent and strong when you are relying on pure self discipline.
