One Yr 8 Mths
Jun 13, 2009
Well I have had a really awful 6 months and have been unfilled for over 3 mths. Went from 162 to 185lbs but have started a diet and lost 5lbs this week, so down to 179lbs. It is very difficult.
I have been checked out for gall stones and stomach ulcers but these tests have been negative - BUT the reflux and sickness continues. I haven't had an uninterupted nights sleep in ages and the constant burning has caused my esophagus to become inflamed and narrowed.
Saw my surgeon last week and he says last chance is that it is a Heitia Hernia. If it is it is a few stitches, if not the band needs removing. Not sure I can handle the second outcome.
Apparently, when I had my band fitted, I may have had an existing Hernia but they never stitched the opening to make it smaller, a procedure that they are now doing.
I am sure that I know have a band slip. I can't see how you can be sick every couple of hours for weeks and still be o.k. But fingers crossed.
If he says band out - he may not see me again! Although, I have been so ill, it will be a releif to get some sleep. I also have not been to the gym as I lack energy and don't feel well, so I don't know that if I uped the exercise and went weight watchers whether I could maintain my weight - to a degree.
Hope all of you are doing well and working the band.

AT GOAL 15.5 MONTHS -162lbs
Jan 09, 2009
Well, I saw my surgeon yesturday as I have got reflux back again. I was down to the fill I had 5 months after surgery 3.5cc, caught the flu and tightened up. He took 2cc out and there is some improvement but I am still getting some acid at night.
He told me I had got to goal and that he needed to stabalise my weight loss. I did protest but he said 7lbs was just tummy skin and I was at goal for my age. I will need to update my photos.
I am really happy to be at goal but not sure how long I will stay there. Still HOORAY FOR ME!!!
15 MTHS OUT

Well, I have lost some more weight and maintained over christmas so was happy, but I have had the flu which seems to have been going on for nearly three weeks. As soon as I became unwell I tightened up, so have been not eating too much and being careful on sipping and not gulping. The dreaded reflux returned this last week and this morning I was sick the most vile black stuff. I am researching to find out what it is. I will have to go back to the doc if I don't improve.
My Band is so sensitive to me being 100% fit. If I am ill or get stressed the band reacts.
Anyway, have a fantastic new years day.

UPDATE - NO FILL
Dec 10, 2008
Sorry it has taken me so long to update. I went to the hospital and had my xray taken and everything was fine. I told the doctor how worried I had been and he said, that he had only had one band slip in 8 years, so that was kind of encouraging.
I managed to get a fill of 3.5cc. I was blocked at 4cc and was unfilled with 4.5cc so something strange has/did happen. I am back to a fill level I had 10 months ago but am so grateful for that. I got back to my car and cried I was so happy.
I have lost 9lbs of the 13 that I put on but what makes me so much happier than that is that I have peace of mind. I am back to eating because I need calories rather than food being on my mind all day which was driving me absolutely crazy.
I did learn a big lesson. Thank you everyone for your advice and support.

14 MTHS OUT

I am on cloud nine - The weight loss has been fantastic - I got down to 174 a couple of weeks ago but I was suffering with reflux so badly. I was being sick in my sleep even though I was sleeping sitting up.
Went to the doctors and had to have a complete unlfill. That was 2 weeks ago.
I know I have put on weight as my trousers have been getting tight
It is really weird, I have gone from eating because I haven't got the calorie intake I need to in or because I haven't eaten for ages, to thinking about food morning, noon and night. I don't like the way food monopolises my mind in this way. What shall I have for breakfast? What shall I have for lunch, How long is it until dinner? And portion control FORGET IT!
I can't go back to this for ever. I go for an xray on Monday so they can check out a band slip. The doc said it may just have been an aggrevated esophogus. I hope so. Anyway, am desperate for a fill on Monday.
Fingers crossed for me.

13 MONTHS OUT
Oct 21, 2008
Well what a year, I uploaded my one year comparison pictures and was so happy.
I also reached my 100 lbs lost today. I do not obsess about the weight loss any more as I know that slowly but surely it is coming off. I am so much happier at home and confident at work. I had my 38th birthday yesterday and just relaxed.
I have 25lbs to go to get me to the normal BMI weight. Not sure if I can make it but don't care if I don't either.
My measurements are:-
One Yr Ago Six Mths One Yr Loss
Arm 16" 13" 12" -4"
Bust 52" 47" 44" -8"
Waist 53" 48" 43" -10"
Hips 50" 45" 41" -9"
Thigh 31" 27" 24" -7"
I can't beleive how much I have lost from my thigh's considering that the circumference is so much smaller than my stomach was!
I also am in UK size 14 jeans which is a USA 12
Still haven't told friends or family about the band and am starting to feel a bit of a fraud as now everyone has noticed and is asking what diet I have been on (Which is weight watchers of course and I am not lying)

RE-FILL REQUIRED
Sep 23, 2008
I waited two weeks and put on 4lb which wasn't bad as I was dieting like mad. Just made me realise how dependant on the band I am for portion control and not gaining weight. The unfil of .5cc meant I could eat for ENGLAND. I went and had the .5cc put back in a couple of days ago and am now much happier (abeit a bit tight, but I have a cold)
The doctor said he could get me to my ideal weight - I had about 16kg to go.
I am so happy.
He also said that a small fill or unfill makes such a difference when you don't have much to loose!!! Sounded great coming from him as he has never once said I was doing well - check in again soon xxxx

UNFILL REQUIRED
Sep 05, 2008
Had a small unfill yesturday - The doc took .5cc out of my band. There was 4.5cc in it (so no leeks) and he put 4cc back in. He thinks I had a total block as I have not been able to eat for 3 days. He unfilled and I drank water to wash it through and then filled me back up again (less .5). I hope this doesn't loosen me up too much, I don't think it will. I am looking forward to being able to eat without worrying as much and it will allow it all to calm down and heal itself.
Got to ONEDERLAND TOO. SOOOOOOOOOOOO HAPPYYYYYY

11 MONTHS
Aug 26, 2008
Well I have just come back from two weeks holidays and apart from having a great time, I was able to eat pretty freely. This was a total surprise as I have spent a few months not being able to eat much at all.
That said I put on 8 lbs whilst I was away and weighed in a 208 last week. Before I went I had been at 200lbs for 4 days EEEEEEEEEEK.
I am now at 204 and my goal now is to reach ONDERLAND for my 1 yr anniversary - I am not too confident at this point that I can do this. My weight has been yo yoing like mad!
Anyway, am very happy with my progress, the band and my weight at the moment. I am keeping a close eye on my wobbly bits though and trying not to become obsessed with my legs, tummy and bat wings......
Take care all and if you are deciding on whether to have WLS or not, I would wholeheartedly say go for it - I can cover up the wobbly bits, I could never hide the fat. xxxxxx

10 Months
Jul 27, 2008
Well, I have really struggled this month. I have put on and lost 6lb's twice (lol). Anyway, I am back down to the lowest again, 204.
I so want to be in Onederland by my anniversary and I should make it, yet with the way things have been going the last month, I also beleive that I may not get there. We will have to see. I have done really well anyway and am so pleased with my progress.
When I first came to the boards it took me a few months to understand what Onederland was!!!!
Good Luck to everyone
