Sleep Study Results

Jul 25, 2014

Got a call last week to go back and see the doctor to get my sleep study results.  It appears i have very mild sleep apnea and i called and the next available appointment is not til August 18th to get my CPAP machine.  This shall be interesting since i'm very clausterphobic.  I am looking forward to waking up feeling refreshed and not have to take 2 naps a day just to function some days.  I go for orientation next week on July 30th i have been looking forward to this for over 5 months now.  Hoping the rest of the process goes smooth and fast from here on out.

Sleep Study

Apr 26, 2014

April 12, 2014 I went for my overnight sleep study in Espanola.  It was not as bad as i thought it was going to be, sure i had a hard time falling asleep but i think that was more a mental issue then a physical issue.  We left Elliot Lake early to go to Espanola.  We figured we could stop in do some shopping and check into the hotel early and go out for something to eat and then relax for a few hours.  On the way to the sleep study (thank god we left early) we get pulled over by a cop who appeared to be following us.  Apparently my boyfriend appeared to not be from the area, we were following our GPS for directions & we missed a turn.  So glad we had left early lol what an ordeal that was.  We get to the hospital and i get checked in, i do a few questionaires and answered some questions.  She starts to hook me up and explaining on what the night will be like. I can read for a bit or i can just lay down and try and fall asleep.  I opted to try and fall asleep on my own at this point a few other I was told there would be 6 other patients, had i known there was going to be that many people i might have chosen a later time to come in.  I found it difficult more then normal to fall asleep because there was a lot of talking in the hallway outside while they got everyone hooked up and into their own rooms.  The technician told me they would wake me up if i had episodes of sleep apnea and would hook me up with a cpap machine.  I woke up in the morning and no one woke me up so i'm assuming i do not have sleep apnea.  The technician at some point came into the room while i was sleep i guess i knocked the box over that had all my wires while moving in my sleep. I wont be surprised if i have a diagnosis of restless legs i move all night long.  The room was extremly dry and warm and i'm pretty sure i was almost stripping in my sleep LOL oops.

Referral

Apr 06, 2014

After almost 2 years of researching and convincing myself its time to do something about my weight i finally went into my family doctor to ask to have my referral for weight loss surgery sent in.  As an ex-smoker i knew that i had to make some big changes in my life.  Last year on my birthday i decided it was time to start putting those changes into effect.  On May 10th it will be 1 year since i've quit smoking.  Feb 14th was the date my referral was sent into the registry and that is the day i stopped drinking caffine.  I am dedicated and so ready to have this surgery.  On april 12 i have my sleep study and then its the waiting game to hear back from the bariatric center in Sudbury.  I've already filled out my papers & my family dr has sent in his papers that he filled out.
