I am 40 yrs old, married to a super wonderful husband, together we have 4 children, 3 grandchildren, a pug, a cat and a parrot. We recently moved to South Carolina from California. My husband and I, both have medical problems and are disabled. I have lupus, fibromyalgia, osteoarthritis, hypothyroid etc., the list goes on & on.
As far as my weight problem goes........In highschool I was 123-125 lbs and am 5'7. I then became a pregnant teen and gained 65 lbs with the pregnancy. After, having my son I constantly dieted and exercised to lose weight without much success--I was able to get down to about 145 for maybe a second. I continued to gain weight 10-15-20 lbs a year for 7 to 8 years when I discovered that I had a thyroid problem and Drs said possible hormonal problems. I was put on medication for the thyroid but by then I was up to 225lbs and still could not lose weight. My weight continued to creep up and I have not been able to keep it off--the lowest that I have weighed in the last 7 years is 218 and that was when I was on the original metabolife formula--which has since been taken off the market and was also diagnosed with lupus, osteoarthritis and fibromyalgia, at that time, so not sure which contributed to the weight loss.
In Dec '06 I got up to 282 and discovered that I had a large fibroid in my uterus and a large tumor on my ovary so I had to have a complete hysterectomy. I am now hovering between 269lbs and 282. I'm now ready for my weight loss journey. I was scheduled for lapband surgery on April 5, 2007 at Lexington Memorial Hospital in Columbia, SC with Dr Givens. I decided not to go on with the surgery........for some reason I was so nervous I decided to postpone it.........I didn't feel right having it.
In Feb 2010, I decided to go ahead with surgery but changed to gastric bypass instead of lapband. This time, I am not nervous--it feels right. I had to see Dr Givens again and go thru the Insurance process again......Surgery scheduled for March 17, 2010.
