I have struggled with my weight my entire life. I had a few years when I was not overweight in my late teens and early twenties. However, to keep this figure I had to engage in very restrictive and unhealthy behavior. The moment I would eat normally, even to diet, I would gain the weight back and more. When I was 28 I was diagnosed with a metabolic disorder. For a short time medication helped and I started to lose weight. However, after a few years my body developed a tolerance to the medication and I started gaining weight again. I spent several more years dieting, to no avail. I finally decided to have gastric bypass surgery in order to lose the weight and improve my health and self esteem.
I am now 5 days post surgery. I am still very laid up, physically, but am excited to feel better and to start my weight loss journey.
