So we're finally just about ready for our camping trip and I've been planning the meals/food to take on the trip. For the most part it's fairly easy - DH is a meat eater so that works well for me. He also likes his chips to snack on, but they have ne

Just need to share my miserable day... two weeks ago in the midst of our heat wave, the AC went out in my car. The mechanic couldn't fit it in the schedule until today. After waiting in their lovely waiting area, they come and tell me that it needs a

Maybe if I put it in writing I'll make it stick in my head. Every Thursday night I have a meeting to go to at 7 p.m. DH gets home at 6 p.m. Doesn't leave a lot of time for dinner & clean-up. For the last too weeks I have gobbled my food on Thursday

I know I've posted here before how much I hate my CPAP. As a surgery requirement I had to start using one about 2 months in to my 6 month pre-op planning. I had a follow-up appt. with the pulmonologist last month - I told her how much I disliked usin

Strange as it may sound, one of the things I'm missing most are fresh summer veggies. I'm 8 1/2 weeks post-op and as of now diet restrictions have been lifted, but there is a caution that I may not do well on fresh fruits & veggies for quite some time

Ugh - I have my first cold in a long time and definitely first time post-op. Any recommendations on relief? I no NSAIDs are a no go. Nyquil is my normal go-to cold relief. Is Nyquil ok & if so, the regular recommended dose? Active ingredients are l

DH and I are out of town for a few days. Last night e went out to eat for the 1st time post op. Went to Red lobster and they had an option to add a skewer of grilled scallops his meal. Did that and yum, they were so good. I was really sort of scared ab

I wear a lot of skirts to work. Most of them are the long length (especially so for me since I'm barely 5'2"). They all have elastic waist so even though I've lost about 70 lbs. since my initial consult in October they all still basically fit around

I'm almost 6 weeks post-op and had my first food issue last night. I ate what was measured (2 oz. canned salmon & 1 oz. cooked mushroom) and knew when I took my last bite that it was one too many. No warning signs before that. I didn't throw-up, but

This week I graduated to soft foods - yay and goodbye to babyfood! I'm now supposed to eat just 3 meals a day (no snacks) of 2-3 oz. at a time and each meal should contain approximately 20 grams of protein. I haven't figured out a way to make that h

Ugh - I pulled a few weeds on Monday and now have poison ivy on my hands, neck and face. Normally it's just an inconvenience, but I'm concerned because my cheek right below my eye & my eyelid are affected (swollen, red, itch). When I look down, all I

I'm 3 1/2 weeks post-op and concerned I may be eating too much. According to my plan I should eat up to 3 oz of puréed 3 times a day and a protein shake split up over 3 snacks. I measure everything and eat the 3 oz over about 20 min with no ill feeli

I just started taking my vitamins this week: sublingual b12, bariatric advantage chewablea - multi, calcium and iron. I know I need to take the iron seaparately (I was told to take it before bed), but is it ok to take the multi and calcium together (t

i start the puréed stage next week. Should I measure my 2-3 oz by volume (1/4-3/8 cup) or by weight?

First let me say that I just had my first 2 oz of cream of chicken soup since surgery on 6/3. Yum. You would have thought I was eating the most delicious food in the world. It's the first thing I've eaten that actually tasted good.

Today is exactly 1-week post-op; I had my first follow-up appointment yesterday and all is progressing well. My surgeon's diet progression seems to be on the conservative side which is fine with me. Today I start full liquids. I know once I start pu

Had to stay an extra day at the hospital due to nausea and not being able to take in fluids. Got a shower this morning and feel so much better. Fluids are going ok, but I can already see that it will be a challenge to stay hydrated. Any tips for gettin

surgery was yesterday at 11:30. We were concerned there would be a lot of adhesions from multiple prior surgeries. Hubby got worried when the doc came out SOONER than expected. Good news- minimal adhesions and surgery went great.

It seems like this process started so long ago, but now all of a sudden it's only a few days away. Day nine of the pre-op diet and all's well. First few days were really rough. Then I re-read my instructions and saw that I could add unsweetened cocoa

Well I kind of expected it to happen because I'm prone to headaches anyhow. Yesterday was day 1 of my 10 day pre-op diet (4 protein shakes a day, clear liquids & 2 cups of veggies a day). I felt it coming on throughout the morning and about 1 p.m. th

Surgery is coming up on June 3. 10 Day pre-op diet starts Monday. My question is about the day before surgery. I need to drink a bottle of magnesium citrate (sp?) at 8 a.m. I know I will be shall we say indisposed most of the day. Does anyone know

All classes/consults completed and YEAH I received approval from my insurance. Surgery date is Friday, June 3. I feel like all the other "daters" have posted... I'm excited, frightened and anxious all at the same time. Can't wait to join you on the

I had my visit with the surgeon before he submits it to the insurance for approval. The office said my insurance company is pretty quick at getting the response back - usually within a week. The down side is my surgeon is already booking surgeries in

I'm finally getting very close to surgery. My last (6 mo.) NUT visit is next week. My insurance doesn't require a specific amount of weight loss during the 6 mo. pre-op, but they do want to see some loss and no gain, not even 1/2 lb. from one visit t
