On The Road Again
Nov 29, 2008
I am now on the road again to recovery from what I hope to be my last surgery. Everything went good. Basically, my surgeon redid my total bypass and did some repair work to my intestines. My weight this morning is at 126.6 lbs!!!! Can't remember the day that I saw that on scales that I was standing on. I am back to the beginning of my eating and it is boring. I will be glad when I healed once more. I am still happy with the decision that I made 18 months ago to have this surgery even though I have been through all that I have. Overall, I have been reborn. Until next time.
Goin' Down
Aug 23, 2008
As of this morning, I have lost a total of 74.4 lbs. Not bad for 5 months. I still have about 25 more pounds to goal. I am just going to wait this out as I don't really know if I would look very good at 125 pounds as I have a very small face and so far it is still looking pretty good. Also, at 56 years of age, I really don't want my face to get wrinkled like so many others that I have seen. I can hide the loose skin as I am not a person to show all of my body. I have never been one to have the want to wear a bikini. In other words, I am a conservative dresser. My loose skin does not look real bad at this point - I really need to get to doing some exercising. I have had some wow moments - I don't have to go to the plus sizes anymore!!! It seems that every other week, I have to sit down and take out the sewing machine and take up my pants. I had to buy new capri's when I went back to work cause the pants that I had before the surgery would fall off. I am trying to wait before I buy anymore pants - but I did buy one new pair of trousers last week - size 16 - and they are loose. Very proud of that moment. Won't be long and I will weigh less that my husband. That will be a real "WOW" moment for me. Eating is OK. I just have to take it one day at the time. One day is good and the next day - can't really eat. I try. Time to shower so that we can go check out the rivers - all the extra water that TS Fay brought to us has our rivers flowing. Till next time. I will post more pictures soon.
1st No Loss
Jul 05, 2008
This is the first time since my surgery that I have not lost any weight in the past week!!! Feeling a bit let down but I know this shall pass. I am still experimenting with foods that work and foods that do not!!! My problem area is in my hips & thighs. Going to have to start working on them. If the weather holds out - I will get in the pool today and swim, then ride my bike and maybe some walking. I know I need to do t his every day but when you work getting all of this in is hard. I could walk at work - but it is way to hot for me - don't like to get sweaty and have to finish the day that way - know what I mean? Enough for today. I need to get moving.
3 month checkup
Jun 11, 2008
I went for my 3 month checkup and all is good. I have lost 50 lbs and very proud. My Dr. also said he was proud of me. I am still waiting for my incision to completely heal. Now that has been a long drawn out process but the end is near!!! Dr. Brient let me know that I can now get back to my biking trips which I have missed. I can also start working out with weights. Now, if it weren't so darn hot!!! Oh well, can't have everything perfect. I will be glad when I can get a handle on what I can eat and what I can't. Everyday is a question on eating!!! Until another day!

Finally decided it was time to upload some before and after photos!!! Can you tell that one of my favorite colors is green? I feel so much better without all that extra weight!!! 48 extra pounds is a lot to carry around. I am feeling a lot better and have a lot more energy. I am wearing some clothes now that I was able to wear 4 years ago. They actually fit better now than they did then!!
10 Weeks Post Op
May 29, 2008
This is the first post since I had my surgery. I actually had 2 surgeries in one week. I had my lap rny on the 17th of March and ended up with a bowel obstruction and had to have another surgery on March 21st. From that surgery I got an infection and have had to have home health care every other day since then. The nurse comes in and cleans, packs and dresses my incision. Even though, I have had these problems, I would do this all over again. I have lost 47.6 pounds as of today and I am loving it. I had to go back in the hospital on May 22, 2008 to find out why I could not keep my food down. On May 23, 2008, my doctor ordered an upper endoscopy and this showed that the opening to my pouch was too small so they dilated it. I am fine now and moving on. My surgeon, Dr. Bruce Brient in Gainesville, Fl has to be one of the greatest surgeons in the world. He is there for you no matter when you need him. He will always return your call and if you are having difficulties, he will give you his cell phone number in case you need him. He will explain anything you need him to. He is just the greatest.
