So Glad I Found This Site!

Aug 04, 2011

Let me introduce myself... My name is Robyn and I am currently 3 weeks post-op.  I'm still a little tender around my main incision and my tummy is still a little sore, but other than that and feeling a little drained of energy I'm feeling pretty darn good considering how bad I felt the week following my surgery.
I am so darn glad I found this site!  I've had so many questions and concerns and seeing so many with the same concerns and experiences as myself on the message board has been such a relief!  Also, seeing how far so many have come since their surgeries and how much weight they've lost really makes me look forward to my own results for the future.
So, where am I 3 weeks post-op?  I'm still on pureed/soft foods.  I've developed a taste for cottage cheese (sprinkled with a little J&D Hickory Bacon Salt) which is pretty inpressive considering I've never cared for it before.  I'm getting a little tired of all the yogurt and puddings, but I'm absolutely loving Unjury's Chocolate Splendor and Chicken Soup for my protein boosts.  I occasionally treat myself to some thinned mashed potatoes but my current favorite thing to eat is pureed Trader Joe's Just Ceasar chicken thinned with some Whole Foods Creamy Portabella Mushroom Soup.  Granted I can only eat a couple of tablespoons for a meal, but it's heavenly.
Excersize is still a problem for me.  Before surgery I was able to treadmill for an hour keeping my heart rate between 150-155.  Yesterday on my first day back to the gym since surgery, I only managed 1/2 an hour on the treadmill at a lower pace and my heart rate was at a whopping 178!  I'm going to start slowly and work myself back up to where I need to be.  I'm looking forwards to working with weights, but I'm still having problems lifting heavy things so I think I'll put that off for another week or two.
Tomorrow's my first day back at work.  I work as a server in a restaurant.  I'm excited to be back to work and make some much needed $$ but I'm also dreading being around so much awsome food.  Now,  I no longer really get "hungry" but still food smells and looks great to me.   I'll say a little prayer before my shift.
