WOW

Nov 25, 2012

When I began this journey I could not know how my life would change. It has now been 4 years. I began at 427 pounds and have now weighed 157-160 for 2 years. I was wearing a size 6X and now wear a small to medium. I have not been this small since I was about 8 years old and today I turn 55. I have never felt better in my life. My life would have been so much better had I had the surgery when I was younger. Please, if you are in your teens, twenties, thirties, or forties, consider changing your life now. I think of the things I now can do, such as have the bar on rides such as a roller coaster come down so I can ride. I am able to sit in those gosh awful small chairs at a Dr.'s office. I can cross my legs. I can climb stairs without getting SOB. I no longer need 8 of the medications I was taking. HOWEVER, the sad part about all of this is I was diagnosed with terminal cancer this past March. But, at least I have enjoyed life the past 2 years. This is why I am telling you younger people to really consider the surgery so you have more years to enjoy your life.

Below Goal Weight (Please Help)

Mar 27, 2010

I am now 5 pounds below my goal weight. I am not trying to lose any more weight (The first time in my life). However, I continue to lose. For the past month I have been eating small amounts all day, especially at night. But, I continue to lose. Has anyone else had this happen? Will I stop and then put on some pounds? If so, about how much will I put back on?
I just had my lab work done, and everything was within normal limits, which is hard to believe. I was diagnosed last week with a deterioration of my spinal discs. I have increased my calcium and vitamin b and d. Also, can anyone tell me where I can buy Nioxin. WalMart does not sell it. I need it because my hair is getting thin and frizzy.

Reaching ideal body weight

Jan 30, 2010

I was weighing almost 400 pounds when I had RNY on October 27, 2008. As of today I am only 7 pounds away from being my ideal body weight of 186 pounds for the first time since I was a teenager. I am now 52 years old.
When I shop for clothes I will look at the size 14/16 and not believe I can wear them. I still see myself as being a size 5X.
I also continue to put way too much on my plate. I have started using a saucer, but I still wind up not being able to eat everything. I do drink fluids all day.
If anyone has any suggestions about muli-vitamins and calcium, I would like to hear them. I have used the Flinstone chewables and the caltrate petites for the past year, but now they have begun to make me sick.

I also have a new man in my life, who treats me like a queen. He actually calls me beautiful although I have 100 more pounds to lose.

Under 300

Mar 10, 2009

I am now under 300 pounds, 299 to be exact, something I have not weighed in over 7 years. After weighing yeaterday, I could not stop smiling. It's amazing how sad I was when I reached 300 pounds 7 years ago, and now I can smile about it. I feel so good both physically and emotionally. My total is now 85 pounds since Oct. I am sooooooooo looking forward to the next 85.

Exercise Help!

Feb 17, 2009

I have been amazed that at my age that my skin has also been shrinking----except for my upper arms. They are definitely getting small, but they are beginning to sag really bad. They are looking terrible. I have gone from a size 5X to a size 2X, but my arms are sagging so badly that the sleves of most the shirts are too tight. Please tell me what exercises I can do to help tighten up my arms. Please help.    Kim

3 Months Out

Jan 28, 2009

Yesterday was my 3 month anniversary. I saw Dr. Steinberg today. My total weight loss is now 66 pounds. Dr. S. told me I already look 20 years younger. The surgery was worth just hearing such a nice compliment. I do know that I feel better now than I have in years. I am now looking forward to my 6 months.
