Happy New Year to me!

Jan 01, 2009

I have survived 2008! I had 2 major surgeries in 7 months and dropped 115 lbs. What a year! I feel fantastic.

I went to see Dr. Rosenthal for my 1 year check-up and actually got to see him! He is a busy guy. He seemed very happy and even asked me to talk to a husband and wife team a couple rooms down who were considering the Sleeve. I hope I didn't talk them out of it but I was very honest. They had not yet met with the psychologist or nutritionist, nor did they attend any group meetings, and I could tell. They thought if they had weight-loss surgery that they would never have to diet or exercise and the weight would just come off. They thought they would physically not be able to eat most foods, therefore, they could not over-eat. I told them their stomachs would be smaller and it would not allow them to over-eat at one sitting but if they did not follow a healthy diet, along with exercise, they could easily regain their weight in the future. I told them it was a lifestyle change and they had to watch what they ate and exercise for the rest of their life if they wanted to be successful. I don't think they liked that. They sure do have a lot of homework to do...don't they!

I am officially in size medium scrubs for work. They are not too tight and not too lose, they fit just right! I have been the same weight for about 2 months now. I fluctuate from 134 to 137. I did rejoin the gym in November and still have not lost anymore weight. I have recently increased my elliptical time from 30 minutes to 45 minutes. We'll see what happens. I can burn over 475 calories on that machine. You would think I'd have to lose something. I did stop writing down what I have been eating. I count my protein but not all my calories. I have to get back on track with that. I really would like to lose at least 7 more pounds if possible.

I know I still have to update my pictures. I will someday because the pictures I have posted have not been updated since I was 3-1/2 months post-op. I really look quite different.

Wishing you all a Healthy, Happy 2009!
