Update - 2 Years & 9 Months

Mar 06, 2012

Well it's been just over a year since I have made any updates to my journey. As of today I currently weigh 172 lbs with a total loss of 72 lbs. My overall health has improved drastically! I am still going to the gym & I have lost over 50 inches. I went from a size 22/24 to a size 10. Due to my weight loss I qualified for a Panniculectomy, they removed 8 lbs of fat from my lower stomach. I can't believe how much better I feel just from losing the weight. All my labs have been great! My original goal was to get to 175 lbs which I have exceeded by 3 lbs. I hope to hear from you all & catch up on your journey as well!

Update - 18 Months Post Op

Feb 09, 2011

Not even sure where to begin???? I have not been on here in ages, I have had so much going on in my life that at times it was overwhelming, Last March 2010 my father was dignosed with Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer. This was a total shock to me & my family but we stuck together & got through this the best we could.  My father was a fighter until the very end.  We had a great 6 months spending time together, camping, fishing with the grandkids, many great memories. In November 2010 I participated in the Purple Stride Pancreatic Cancer walk in support of my father. Due to his health he wasn't able to be there but after the walk I went to see him & the smile on his face I will always remember. He was very excited that I did this for him. A few weeks went by & his health took a turn for the worse. My sister flew out here so we could be by his side until the end. On November 24, 2010 God called my father to be with him. It has been hard emotionally but I have been doing the best I can to stay positive. I know in my heart he is no longer suffering & no longer in pain. It's hard knowing he's not just a phone call a way. I thought things couldn't get worse but my mother was diagnosed with Stage 2 Breast Cancer & had her surgery the day after my fathers funeral. With all the new research for Breast Cancer my mother has a chance to beat this. With the help & support of my husband, children, family & friends I have been able to deal with all of this.

I had mentioned in another post in June 2010 I had to go in for a fix on my band. It turns out my tubbing was leaking so that was why my weight loss was slow. Since the surgery I have lost more weight & my overall health is GREAT!! As of right now my total fill is at 3.5cc. Originally my first goal was to reach 175lbs & then I changed it to 170, well I currently weigh in at 177lbs. OMG!! I am so close to my goal!! I have started back at the gym & had my youngest join with me & with him always asking to go we are averaging 4-5 workouts a week. This is helping me get back in to my routine plus it is helping me take my mind off of everything I just went through. Well I hope you all are doing well!!

Band Revision In Just A Few Hours

Jun 17, 2010

Can't believe tomorrow will be my year bandiversary. But due to a slow in weight loss my doctor is performing a band revision in just a few hours. He believes my band is having issues or that my port is, not sure??? I pray that surgery will go fine & that after the surgery I will be on tract with my weight loss.

As of yesterday I weighed in at 201, so far a total loss of 43 lbs (34 from the band). I am only 30 lbs from my goal. But overall my health is so GREAT!!

Thank you all for the support during this first year!

Almost 1 Year Out ~ Having Band Revised Complications

Jun 13, 2010

My Dr. has been saying since March that he thinks I am having issues with my band, we have been monitoring my weight loss & I am at a stand still. At this point he still cannot give me a fill or back fill my band this is showing complications with the band. My one year anniversary date is June 19th, 2010 & my surgery date is scheduled for June 18th, 2010. As of today I have lost 31 lbs since surgery. Even with this small amount it has helped me get my heath under control, which I am so thankful for!! I am hoping after surgery everything will fall in to place & the weight will disapear. I am only 30 pounds from goal. Wish me luck! I will keep you all updated.

Thanks!!

10 Months Post Op

Apr 30, 2010

Well since my last update a lot has been going on in my life. My father was recently diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer which has spread to the Liver. Due to the stage it is in-operable & he has since started chemo. As of today he is doing well, gaining weight & so far pain free. It has been an emotional roller coaster for me these past 2 months. When I saw my doctor he said I had lost 6 lbs which took me down to 204 lbs. I then explained it was probably from the stress, so I explained the situation with my dad's illness. He did try to give me a fill but was only able to give .5 cc, so now I have a total of 4.5 cc. He was barely able to pull back when he gave me a fill so that there is telling him something is wrong. He said to come back in 6 weeks which will be May 13th to see how I am doing. He believes I have a bad port. He has had to go in & revise another patients port as of now. Now I really do think my port is bad since the other patient lost 35 lbs & had just had surgery. I am now 10 months out & as of today I have lost 38 lbs with surgery & 47 total. My current  weight as of this morning is at 197 lbs. That is roughly 7 lbs since my last appt. It doesn't seem like much but my lab readings are GREAT!! My A1C is now at 6.1. I am almost considered normal.lol. The BEST thing so far is I feel much better & my medication is practically gone!!
I will try my best to get on here more to see how everyone is doing. Hope all is well & much success to you all!!

8 Month Follow Up

Feb 25, 2010

I have not been on here in forever & just wanted to stop by & see how everyone is doing with their weight loss. I hope all is going well for all of you! I am now 8 month post op & have lost 31 lbs since surgery. I just had my 3rd fill last week since the Dr. had to take out my 2nd fill. It was so tight I had been vomiting almost everyday. He said to come back in 6/8 weeks to see how I am doing. He said my weight loss is going a little slow & that my tubing connecting the port to the band might be pinched. If so, he will have to go back in & straighten it out, that's if he can't back fill my next fill. Since I have been to the Dr. a week a go I have lost 7 lbs, so I am hoping everything is good. I know the weight loss is slow but I am looking & feeling better & all my medication is disappearing. I had some really good labs, A1C is 6.2, Trigylcerides 76. My clothes are getting way to big, maybe slower weight loss is better I am not sure just confused. I am about 30 lbs to my goal weight, I can't wait!

Has anyone experienced what I am going through? I would love to hear from you all, please keep me updated.

Wishing you all the best!!

6 Months Follow Up

Jan 06, 2010

Hello Everyone! I know it's late but I wanted to give you all an update on my 6 month follow up. I weighed in at 210 lbs @ my appt. Dec. 2009. The doctor asked how was I doing & if I could eat 4 small meals a day. I explained that I would vomit everyday no matter what I ate. He said that I had too much restriction (second fill @ 4 1/2 months received .5cc) that he would have to release my band .5cc. Now this takes me back down to my original fill of 4.5cc. I have been doing a lot better & have finally been able to eat with no issues. I go back in Feb. for my 8 month follow up & my goal for that appt. is to be under the 200 lb marker. I have been determined & focused going to the gym & it is showing & paying off. My current weight as of today is 208 lbs. I am now down 2 more lbs. I am half way to my goal weight of 170 lbs.

Thank you all for your continued support!!

5 Months Post Op

Nov 25, 2009

Well it's been 5 months since I had surgery, I can't believe how the time has flown by!! I just wanted to share some good new with you all. I went to my Endocrinologist last Friday to get my current lab results. My A1C has dropped to 6.3 & all areas of my cholesterol are in good range. I had to be honest with the Doctor & I had to tell her I stopped taking all my cholesterol meds 6 months a go. I wanted to see how I could do with out them. Well lucky for me my results were so good that my doctor took me off all meds except my Insulin which has been cut 3 times in the 5 months. I will see her in 4 months, she said my insurance might not let me go back since I am pretty much now in the normal range. I can't believe it! This was the greatest feeling!! She said with the weight loss (so far about 30 lbs) & the exercise I should be back on pills in no time for my diabetes. Thanks for reading & allowing me to share my good news with you! Please let me know how you all are doing.

Follow Up Visit 4 1/2 Months - 2nd Fill

Oct 29, 2009

Since I was not able to get a fill at my 3 month visit, I had to schedule another appt for 6 weeks to see the doctor. Well today was my visit & it went well. I was really hoping to lose more but I guess I shouldn't complain, I am now at 215 lbs. I should be happy with the 2 lbs that I did lose. After talking to the doctor he said my weight loss is going slow. I felt disappointed that it's not coming off faster. I have been trying my best to eat good, have been DEDICATED to the gym. I asked him if maybe I was working out too much (3-4 days for 2 hrs), but he said no. I did let him know that in the 4 months since surgery I have LOST 12 1/2 inches. He said that was great & to continue working out. He said he was going to give me a cc fill (I don't think that is much) & see me back in 6 weeks for my 6 month follow up. Since I had my fill I have to start my liguid diet for a few days & then soft diet & see how things go. I really want to be under 200 lbs by the next visit.

For all you friends that have the band, how are you doing, how much weight loss have you had? Do any of you have any suggestions for me?

Thanks for all your support!! I hope to hear from you....................
