Update - 4 Months Post Op

Oct 21, 2009

Hello OH Friends!

It's been forever since I have been on & updated my profile. Hope everyone is doing great!!

Well here is a quick update, I am now 4 months post op & down 26 lbs total (started losing before surgery) . I have had "ONLY' one fill since having surgery. At my three month follow up I was down 17lbs & explained to the doctor that I was occasionally vomiting after eating. He said since I still had restriction that I would have to wait 6 more weeks before considering my second fill. My appt. is next Thursday morning on 10/28. I am sure I have lost more weight, but I know for sure I have lost 12 1/2 inches and my body fat  has lowered from the start of my surgery. I have been very dedicated to the gym since the begining of this year & have lost a total of 22 inches. It feels so GREAT to fit into smaller clothes : ) Now t hat I am training with a trainer at the gym his guidance has paid off. I have noticed that my body is toning & firming & that my muscles are getting more definition. The best thing that has happened to me since surgery is that my Insulin has been lowered twice within two months. Don't get me wrong I am excited to lose the weight but I am more excited that my medication has been cut back. At times I felt like a walking pharmacy.lol

I will try to log on more often & thank you for staying in touch! Your support is very much appreciated!!!

1 Month Follow Up Visit

Jul 17, 2009

Well yesterday I had my 1 month follow up and first fill. I followed my directions to not eat before my appt. (by the time I got home my tummy was grawling) since the doctor was doing the fill. When the nurse weighed me the number on the scale dropped to 223.5 lbs for a total weight loss of 11.5 lbs since surgery. I was so HAPPY to see the number drop by 6 lbs from my last visit 3 weeks a go. When the doctor came in to the room he asked how was I doing with my diet & vitamins. I said I have been doing well & following orders. He had me get on the table so he could do the fill. He was pressing on my tummy so hard trying to find the port. He said mine is deep. Ater a few try's he finally found it (thank god!). He gave me 4cc & then had me try to drink something before leaving. He wanted to make sure I felt ok swallowing. They said I am on track & I was cleared for the pool & to do more than the bike & treadmill at the gym. I can't wait to see all the ladies I have met & catch up on my journey!! I have to do a liquid diet for two days so today is day 2, then I can start introducing more food in to my diet.
Well OH Family this is what's going on with me, how are all of you?
I wish you all much success on your weight loss journey! Thank you all for your support!!

Update

Jul 06, 2009

Hello OH Family! I know it's been a minute since I have posted anything. I have really been enjoying the last two weeks off recuperating from my surgery with my family. I have been doing good with the soft food diet. Not eating much has caused my blood sugars to fall way too low. So 5 days after surgery I went to see my Endocrinologist & she took me off one medication completely & took a way my morning shot of Lantus. I have gone from 7 shots a day down to 4. This is a big accomplishment in just a few days!!  I started back at the gym which feels great even though it's just the bike & treadmill. Since I joined the gym I have my husband do my measurements every month . Well yesterday he measured me & it was such a great feeling to see that I lost 5 3/4 inches just for the month of June. My total lost since Feb. 2009 is 15 1/2 inches. This has made a big difference in my clothes on top of the weight loss now I can fit back in to some of my smaller outfits especially my work uniform!! It feels so good that everything is going great! My first night back at work was last night ( I work graveyard) & the night flew by! When I woke up yesterday morning I made my lunch for the work week (3 days) which has been great. I was able to pack my lunch bag with everything I needed. I do get hungry but I have been doing good. I wonder what my doctor will advance me to on the next visit on the 16th. This is the day I get my first fill : )
How have you all been doing? I have been trying to stay up with everyone's progress by reading the blog's.
Please keep me updated on your progress.

I will keep you updated as time goes - thanks for all the support...................

First Follow Up

Jun 23, 2009

Well today was my first follow up with my surgeon. I had my son drive me to my appt. & when we got there we were 30 min. early. I thought since we were early maybe it would go quicker but I was wrong. The office was so full of patients we did not get seen until 1 hour & 40 min. later.  Besides the long wait, my visit went GREAT! They weighed me before going in to the room & the magic number was 229.5, my total weight loss is 5.5 lbs since Friday. I feel that I am on my way to a new beginning, a HEALTHIER beginning. The Dr. advanced my diet to cottage cheese, cheese, apple sauce, veg. refried beans , scrambled eggs & yogurt on top of the liquids. This seems like a lot but I will follow his orders. By the time we got out of the office my boys were starving so I took them to eat on the way home and I made my self some egg beaters for lunch. I have to call & schedule my 1 month follow up for 3 weeks out. I have started walking on my treadmill since yesterday & I feel great!. After a few more days of rest I think I will start back at the gym. The doctor said "ONLY" the treadmill & bike until my next visit. I just wanted to share my excitement with you all

Feeling Better

Jun 22, 2009

Well my surgery was 4 days a go & everything seems to be going very well. I have been on the liquid diet since I came home & must continue until I have my follow up visit. I am seeing the surgeon tomorrow afternoon since he will be out of the office the rest of the week. The day prior to surgery I weighed in at 235 lbs., when I woke up this morning I jumped on the scale since I was curious. I know it's only been a few days but I could not resist, the number looking back at me showed 230 lbs. It has been hard the last few days due to the liquid diet, my blood sugars have dropped so low. My lowest point was 75. I made an appt. with my Endrocrinologist for Wednesday morning. In the mean time she said to cut my Insulin in half, so I don't fall to low. My blood sugars have always been high or medium range so this is a first for me to experience. Boy, do you feel strange, like you can't stand on your own two feet. Luckily, my husband was able to take a few days off with me to help me recover. I am so lucky to have a supportive husband! He is my everything!

Tonight I was feeling better so I wanted to make my family dinner. They had Spagetti w/Itallian Sausage. It smelled so DAMN good, but I kept my will power & took my broth up stairs. I know I have to be strong & god is guiding me in the right direction. I just want to thank you for all your support!

Just Got Home From The Hospital

Jun 20, 2009

My Realize Band surgery was yesterday morning, my procedure took 34 min. I had to stay one night due to getting too much anethisa. It took me a while to wake up, had my family a little worried. I got to come home this afternoon about 3 p.m. I am a little sore but feeling pretty damn good considering surgery was yesterday. Thanks for all the support. I will keep you all updated, going to get some rest.

12 Days Until Surgery (June 19th, 2009)

Jun 12, 2009

When I started this process it seemed like eternity! Now my surgery date is in 1 week (June 19, 2009). My whole process has taken me about 11 months from start to finish. I am soooooo excited to have this done! I just want to live a long healthy life with my husband & kids. The past two weeks I have been doing the high protein no starch diet and I have lost about 3 lb. Next week I will need to start my liquid diet, the doctor wants me to do it the night before surgery but I was thinking of trying it for 2 - 3 days prior. Today was my final day to get my pre-op labs done for my appt. next Thursday. Boy, did the needle hurt!!

Thank you to all that have been supportive! I appreciate your kind words!!

I will keep you posted.

Surgery Date Is Near

Jun 01, 2009

I have my pre-op on the 18th of June & then on the 19th is my surgery date. I have been doing the high protein no starch diet, I won't lie it's been hard but I am trying my best to stick to it. I have been packing my lunch for work since it makes it easier for me. Since doing this I have noticed my blood sugars have dropped when I check them. I have been sticking to my excercise routine for the last few months & have lost 11 inches as of May 6th. I can really tell a difference & the water arobics makes me fell so good.

With the date getting near I am "REALLY" excited but nervous at the same time. I have been trying to read as many profiles to help guide me through this journey. Due to health issues Diabetis & High Cholestrol I am really hoping my surgery will help me get off my medication completely or cut it in half. I feel like a walking pharmacy!! LOL

I will do everything in my power to lose as much weight as possible to help me live a longer & healthier life with my husband & children.

I will keep you all posted.
