Back at the gym

Nov 19, 2011

Rejoined the gym.  Now to get some toning done.  I found out last year I have degenerative disc disease in my back and have been having some pain in my lower back.  Hopefully I can get those muscles toned so my spine doesn't hurt so bad.  At least I am 93 lbs smaller so I do not have that weight on my back.

Low vitamin D

Apr 10, 2010

I found out I am deficient in vitamin D.  I have been put on 50,000 mg every week for two months.  Then we will be retesting my levels to see if my body is absorbing the supplement.  I hope it is.

Another wow momen

Jan 12, 2009

I had gotten some pants from a friend I consider tall and skinny.  I though to myself it was nice, but I will never get into those pants.  SURPRISE!!!!  Today I fit into a size 9.   It is funny, because I do not see myself as thin as her.  When I look in the mirror, I still see the old heavy me.  I guess my head needs to catch-up with my body.

Workin' out

Nov 13, 2008

I joined a fitness center this week.  I don't sweat as easy as I used to.  I fit better in the weight machines and it is actually fun to go there.  Since I don't get sweaty, I can go during my lunch instead of trying to get there after work.

9 month post-op checkup

Nov 10, 2008

I had my 9 month follow-up today.  I have lost about 72% of my excess body weight.  The doctor's goal is 160.  I am only 3 pounds away!!  Everything went good.  I can't believe the changes in only 9 months.

6 month check-up

Aug 15, 2008

I had my 6 month check-up today.  Everything is going well.  I have lost 60% of my excess weight and they want their patients to lose at least 75%.  I am almost there.

My weight was 176 today.  Let's see, 247 minus 176 equals 71 lbs gone and never to be seen again!!    I had lost 13 lbs since my last visit 3 months ago.

OMG I fit in the seats!!

Jul 02, 2008

I just needed to share my wow moment with everyone.

Yesterday my husband and I took our kids to Valleyfair.  I have not been there for a long time and the last time I was there was not much fun.  I did not fit very well in the roller coaster seats.  They are not made for overweight people.  After losing 60 #, I figured I would give it a try.  OMG, I actually had wiggle room in the seats.  It feels soooo good.  We had a blast.  I was able to keep up with the kids without getting winded.  One thing I did notice, is how many other people were struggling with the issue of not fitting in the seats.  All I could do was smile to myself and think how glad I am that I made the choice to make this life changing decision.  I felt like a kid again.  Kind of like that Disney commercial where the dad and the kid are at Disneyland.  I even tried the water slides and I am scared of heights.  I think adrenaline was taking over my fear, because I didn't think twice about it.  On the coasters, my arms were even in the air as we went up and over.  Maybe I was just high on life yesterday, it was like a day of celebration for me.

No longer Morbidly Obese

Jun 12, 2008

The doctor removed the diagnosis of Morbidly Obese from my chart yesterday.  Now I am just Obese, but not for long.

Feelin' Better

Mar 07, 2008

I am finally starting to feel normal again.  The labs all came back fine.  No bacteria.  I was told my system is just trying to get used to my new plumbing.  I went back to work today.  I was still a little weak and very tired.  My supervisor pulled me aside when I got there and told me they gave me a raise.  That made me feel a little better.  I hope I am finally on the mend.

Back to the ER

Mar 04, 2008

I was back in the ER yesterday.  This time I went to Abbott.  They ran more blood tests and did a CT.  There were no leaks and everything looked fine on the inside.  They gave me more fluids and an injection of Thiamin.  They are still thinking it is from the antibiotic I received afer surgery.

Today I am feeling better.  I had my 3 week post op, so I was back down to Abbott again today.  My van is going to be auto-pilot there pretty soon.  I was taught how to do my b-12 injections today.  It was not as bad as I thought.  I survived.  We will see how it goes on my own next month.  I am still on the liquid diet, but was told when my gut starts getting better I can progress to pureed and then soft foods.  I cannot wait until I can eat and it actually stays in me.

Till later,
Sandra
