Not so hot.

Mar 01, 2008

Yesterday I spent the day in my PCP's office.  I was dehydrated and received 2 iv bages.  I spoke with Dr. Chute that night and he gave me a prescription.  He thinks I have antibiotic enduced diarrhea.  Not fun!! I am back to clear liquids for now.  Things will get better.  I have a lot of friends and a caring surgeon that are concerned about me.  I am so thankful I found Dr. Chute.

Two weeks out

Feb 27, 2008

I can't believe it is two weeks since my surgery.  I keep feeling better everyday.  The protein shakes do not not work for me anymore.  I started dirnking Boost, but I get the dumping feeling from that too.  I was not supposed to start eating soft foods until Friday, but we went out tonight.  The owner of the bar knows that I was having surgery and made me a grilled chicken breast with swiss cheese.  It tasted so good.  It took me a long time to eat it, but it was worth it.  I chewed and chewed and chewed.  I have a fear of something gettting stuck.  It went down fine.  When we got home, I entered it into my calorie king program and finally made it over 60 grams of protien.  Whoo Hooo!!!

I went back to work on Monday.  I was not going to go back until March 3, but decided to try it early.  My short term was paying 60% of my wages, but I was not accruing vacation.  It would be hard to take a break with my family without vacation time.  The first few days were tough, but it is getting better.  I am still really tired at the end of the day.

My rashes from my steri-strips are getting better.  That was the worst part of my surgery.  I had blisters and sores.  Now I have big red marks on my stomach that are dry and itchy.

The good new is I have lost about 17 lbs since January 9th.  I have lost most of if in my face and my thighs.  My stomach is getting smaller I'm sure, because I am starting to notice it in my jeans.  I think I am still swollen from surgery.

Till Later,
Sandra

I'm Home

Feb 16, 2008

Surgery went well.  The worst part was the ride home.  We stopped every 30-40 minutes so I could get out and walk around, but it was still too long of a ride.  When we got home, I was in so much pain, I was shaking and my teeth would not quit chattering.   I cut my two oxycodone up into 18 pieces, took them and went to bed.  I slept pretty good until I needed to change position.

Today I feel pretty good.  I had my protein shake for breakfast and took some tylenol at 10:30.  My body is starting to pass gas, but I need to make sure I am in the bathroom if I feel the urge.  I think the shake went right through me, kind of like when you feed a baby, they poop.

I got into a coughing spat today and thought I was going to die.  It hurt so bad.  I survived and soon forgot about the pain.

More updates later,
Sandra

Tomorrow's the day!!

Feb 13, 2008

I just got off the phone with Vicky at MBS and everything is in line and ready to go.  I am all packed and will be picking my kids up at noon and then heading to the cities.  I am not looking forward to the mag citrate.  I am bringing an extra roll of tp just incase the hotel did not put new rolls in the room.

Surgery is at 7:30 tomorrow.  I am getting a little nervous, but I keep telling myself it will go fine.  I will post an update of how it went after I am home.

I'm almost there!!

Feb 11, 2008

One more day of work for me until March 3.  Thursday is coming fast.  This site is truly amazing.  I have gotten encouragement from so many people.

My pcp called today.   Great news!!  I do not have the blood disorder that my dad has.  No clotting problems here.

Pre-Op Complete

Feb 05, 2008

I had my pre-op today.  I swear they took a gallon of blood from my arm.  They are doing a special test before I go in for surgery.  My dad has a blood clotting disorder and my physician wants to make sure they take every precaution.  We just need to wait for the other labs and the ultrasound to be read.  A week from tomorrow I make the trip to the cities.

I get soo frustrated.

Feb 04, 2008

About 1 1/2 weeks ago I scheduled my pre-op.  I was to be fasting for the labs and the ultrasound.  I got there 10 min before my appointment and was told the schedule said my appt is tomorrow and there was no way they could get me in today.  I know the person scheduling the appointment told me the 4th.  It seems like every appointment I have gets rescheduled for some reason or another.  First my surgeon appointment.  Not only once but three times and now my pre-op.  What next??  I feel someone is testing me to see if I am strong enough to follow through.  Believe me, this has been a long journey and I am not going to give in now!!

It's getting closer

Feb 03, 2008

I have my preop appointment tomorrow.  I have completed day 4 of my liquid diet now.  By the time my ultrasound is done tomorrow, I am going to be really hungry.  I am thinking about having a late night protein shake.  My appointment is at 10:30 tomorrow and I must be fasting, nothing after midnight.  Going thru this journey sure makes you a true survivor!!
