It's been 2 weeks

 Oh my goodness I haven't posted a blog in two weeks!  Did you miss me and my crazy life?   Well let's see... life has been pretty boring, I take vitamins and supplements, eat protein and veggies, drink a protein shake when I feel like it, sleep and repeat.  Pretty boring stuff if you ask me.  So I haven't posted.  I have been a little slack in my exercise, I think I'm getting bored with the videos I have... Zumba, Walk away the Pounds... it's not good when you can start saying what the video instructor says while they're saying it...  But I guess it's all a means to an end.

I had posted on May 26th that my 3 month appointment was coming and my first goal was to get to 250 but my real goal was to push for 245.  I felt I had jinxed myself because my numbers have been moving down so slowly.  But here I am, in the middle of my PMS time (sorry if tmi) and I get on the scale and today I am 246.6!!!!  And I still have exactly 1 week until my 3 month appointment!  I think I'm going to make it to my 3 month goal ya'll!!!   Of course, if I don't I will still be fine with it, but if I do...... Wooo Chile! You won't be able to tell me nothin'! (forgive the ebonics ).

Guess that's it for now!  Now let me go try and get this 1.6 lbs off of me.... ZUMBA!!!!!!!

 60 lbs down!!!!!   I'm now at 255.2 or 255.8 depending on the time of day lol.  I'm getting just a little excited as I sit here wearing a tennis dress I haven't worn in 12 years!!!!  7.5 lbs more until I'm at my halfway mark.

My 6 year old just gave me the best NSV EVER!

Hearing from friends and family about how great I look is wonderful but I've really been waiting for my 6 year old, Aidan, to give me his stamp of approval.  I even went as far as to ask him one day a few weeks ago, "Is mommy looking thinner?"  He said, "No." and walked away lol.  

Well, I've been working out in front of him a lot and he would come and sit and watch off and on and ask me "Mommy why are you always exercising?"  And I explain to him that I want to be healthy for him and his brothers and sister.  He says, OK and goes back to his cartoons.  

Today, I'm exercising as usual and Aidan comes and watches and he goes, "Mommy you're getting skinnier. See right here and right here.."  And he proceeded to poke at each spot where my shirt and pants had gotten baggy.  I actually felt a tear well up in my eye.  My son is honest to a fault so to finally getting the stamp of approval from him is big.  Yea we carry on about how no one's opinion matters but our own but I really do cherish the opinions of my babies.  I'm so glad that they get to see me work on going from their fat mom to their thinner more healthy mom.

Ready to push myself

 I just finished a 4 Mile Walk in less than 48 minutes!!!! I am officially ready to push myself.....

My next post op appointment is on June 21st which is 26 days away.  My goal was to be 250 lbs at that appointment which would mean I have to lose 7lbs in 3.5 weeks.  I really think I can do it and surpass it so I formally pledge to push myself to the limit for the next 26 days to see how much I can lose in that time frame.  7 is the least I want to lose but 12 is my ultimate goal.  That would put me at 245.

 I've exercised everyday this week doing my Leslie Sansone videos, Zumba vids, and walking around the neighborhood.  I hope I can keep the momentum up... change that I don't hope I can, I KNOW I CAN!!  The fact that I'm typing this will keep me motivated.  Who would've thought that I would like working out?? And daily at that?? I can honestly say that having WLS has really given me a new outlook on my life and my health.  I enjoyed my life at my largest size, but I am really so happy and enthusiastic about this journey.

My new favorite shake/exercise

Hey everyone!!! Happy Thursday!  Can you believe memorial day is almost here?  To me it's the unofficial start to summer.  Friday is the last day of school for the kids here, so yea.. unofficial summer.   I'm down 58 lbs, the skinny jeans I bought about a month ago are now falling off of me.  I guess this will be the summer of dresses.  I'm finding they are more forgiving to us Divas as we lose weight.  Well I digress....

I really loathe most protein shakes at this point so I had to get creative.  I now make my shakes out of greek yogurt, fruit, ice, vanilla extract and stevia.  The first one I made was peach and it was AWESOME!!!!! Like having a peach shake.  I used fresh fruit and I've also tried canned no sugar added fruit (I'm starting to assume that I may not dump because I've heard of people dumping on the no sugar added canned fruit but I haven't).

As far as exercise, I can honestly say I've become addicted.  I love working up a sweat and feeling my muscles burn after working out.  It makes me feel like I'm accomplishing something and helping my RNY along instead of making my RNY work for me.  My favorite workout vids right now are by Leslie Sansone and it's her Walk Away The Pounds Series.  There are a bunch of them and I own the 2 mile Walk, the 3 mile Walk, the 4 mile Walk, and the 5 mile.  I started out with the 2 miles which took the place of me walking the 2+ miles around my neighborhood in the hot GA weather.  Now I'm up to between 3 and 4 miles. I love her DVDs because she incoporates arms and some videos use weights and resistance bands while walking which really gets that heartrate up!!!  In order to target my tummy more I also incorporate Zumba abs every other day which is about 15 mins.

Yea I know, how corny lol!  But it's been exactly 2 months (3/20/2012) since I had my surgery so let's celebrate with a pic as I sit here sipping my Peach-Mango Green Tea.

It took 9 years

Today my husband's car club was participating in a basketball tournament against other car clubs in the area, so being the- First Lady (the wife of the President of the Car Club), of course I have to be there. What I didn't realize is that this park only had two benches!  I actually stood up for SEVEN HOURS!!  And it really didn't bother me. Does that constitute a NSV???? I even walked around the perimeter of the park once just to kill some time. 

So, I come home and change my clothes and I decide to try on a size 20 shorts.  I am able to get them on but they don't button.  My husband looks at them and even though they don't button he tells me his mom had left a size 18 pair of brown capris in the guest room for me and I should try them on.  I keep trying to explain to him that an 18 is SMALLER than a 20 so the chances of the 18 fitting are pretty much none.  He was so adamant that I should just try them, that maybe the 20 is cut small.. so finally I give in and try them....Size 18  capris

yep... That's an 18.  When was the last time I was able to button an 18??? 2003....  It took 9 years.. but I'm in them!!!!! So we've gone from a 24 waist to an 18 in 9 weeks.  Might not be all 18s but doggone it for today I'm taking my victory (and debating on going to Goodwill and see if I can find another 18 and see if I can fit it too ).

Just a quick, I must be looking different moment....

So, I'm sitting at my hubby's computer desk which is in our first livingroom near the front door and my neighbor's mom comes over to borrow some foil (we're military this is what we do lol).  So being that we live on post, in the south we leave our doors open so our friends just pretty much just walk in and out each other's houses.  Well anyway, her mom comes in and so I half turn to her while talking to her and I notice her looking at me funny as she speaks to me and I'm thinking to myself, "Now I know she has seen me with my hair tied up before so why is she looking at me like that." So then I turned all the way around and she exclaims, "Shawana that's you??? Girl I didn't know who I was talking to. That weight is really coming off good,  wasn't sure it was you!!"  All I could do is bust out laughing because she really was looking and talking to me like I was some strange person.  It was too funny.

Now granted I was in my workout clothes so maybe that did it too... 

By the way, I've been in my workout clothes all day and have yet to workout!!  I'm not motivated today and I thought putting on the clothes would make me get motivated but it hasn't.  I've been on the couch all evening.... Well let me go get my a$$ up and do my Leslie Sansone DVD.. the least I can do is Walk Away The Pounds before it's time for Grey's Anatomy!

50 lbs gone!!!!

That's right.. I finally hit my 50 lb lost mark... and I'm not 8 weeks out yet!!  I am so excited... Come on ya'll and do the wobble with me!!! Get it!! Get It!!!!

I've learned that I have bee eating way too little calories which is why my loss hasn't been as good as I wanted.  I lose more if I get in as close to 600 calories as I can and when I get in A LOT OF PROTEIN!!!  Boiled shrimp with old bay seasoning is my protein of choice.  I can sit and eat that with nothing else and be fine and my pouch loves it.  I'm learning something new about my body continuously... this is definitely a learning journey!!!

Hope all of you are doing well also!!!  Time to go finish the laundry (which is my exercise for the day.. don't judge me!!! ).

Dinner tonight

So my friend Cat had told me she had made some stroganoff the other night using the hamburger helper stroganoff packet, ground turkey, and skim milk.... oh yea and SPAGHETTI SQUASH.  I have to tell you all, it really was awesome.  I haven't been able to happily eat anything as well as I have this.  I think I overcooked my spaghetti squash too much this go round but I definitely know for the next time.  But it was still so good that I could see myself overeating it.  Now you know what I'm going to have to do... try other flavors of hamburger helper using spaghetti squash and ground turkey.  It's like the ultimate quick fix meal that still has health benefits!  And my kids loved it too!!!!  TOUCHDOWN!!!!

And so after dinner my kids were having their slushies so I made myself one mixing unsweetened strawberry lemonade koolaid and truvia with very little water and then blending it with ice in my ninja... AWESOME!!!!

Everything has gone so well with my pouch tonight that I think we deserve dessert.  So we are treating ourselves to watermelon.  

Tonight.. for a change, me and my pouch will go to bed happy and content and not wondering if we'll ever like food again .
