The Last 2 Weeks!

Jul 13, 2010

wow! a lot has changed in just 2 weeks. All Thanks and Praise be to God for a complication free surgery on 6/28/10. God is good! I was so scared going in. However, I did have to stay an extra day and get more x-rays because I was throwing up one night and couldn't keep anything down. Everything was fine and in good working order. So I went in Monday and was released that thursday. It wasn't that bad. I wasn't really prepared for the pain though. I had my son by c-section 2 years ago, and I certainly forgot how painful abdominal surgery can be. Liquid hydrocodone was my BEST friend for a good week.  So I get home and the couch has been my new resting place since. It has been kind of rough mentally watching others around me chow down on all the foods I love like sweets, pizza, chinese food---you know all the junk that got me to my heaviest weight. I thought I would have broke down and maybe even cried by now, but being able to be even one size smaller has kept me smiling thru the pain! So at my pre-op appointment I was 343 pounds! OMG So I had to STOP eating and go on a liquid diet. Not only to shrink the liver but to get my BMI under 60. The hospital where my surgeon performs will not allow bypass surgery on someone with a BMI over 60. So I started at 62.5. I needed to lose at least 16 pounds. I weighed in at 317 on surgery day so I actually lost 26 pounds! yaaaay. I was mad to see at my 1 week post-op appointment I was still 317. I'm like I haven't eaten anything. My doc and nurse say this is normal though. Since I have been home I have had problems overeating and throwing up. Its crazy how little I can eat now. I'm looking at the food and I want to devour it in 30 seconds! But my body won't let me. One week after my post-op appointment which is 2 weeks out of surgery I am now 306! So 37 pounds total so far. I took a picture of my self today after working out at the YMCA and couldn't believe I had let myself get to 343 pounds. How did I get there? How come I couldn't keep the motivation to lose the weight in the past? What do I really look like at 300 lbs? Well the good news is pretty soon I won't be 300 pounds any more and I'll be asking new questions like what roller coaster should I get on? Should I buy these skinny jeans in black or blue? Should I get a one-piece or a bikini? LOL I 'm sure I'll probably always need a one piece!
