For someone who hates blogging....here I am again...

Jul 07, 2009

So Sunday night, during my routine check of my incisions, we discovered that the incision closest to my bellybutton was warm to the touch, reddish & had a stiff swelling just above it. I got up Monday morning to see that it was now redder, and there was greater swelling. So...I contacted the surgeons office and waited for their callback. After awhile, I got nervous and decided to go to the Urgent Care. Well, I have a abscess...now I'm taking antibiotics and trying to get this stupid thing to drain (sorry for any graphicness). I go see my surgeon tomorrow, I'm very nervous about what they might do to help me with this...so I'm hoping that it decides to drain today. I understand its all necessary...so I'm just trying to mentally prepare myself.
I'm also very confused on how much I should be taking in right now....my surgeon gave me a paper with sample menus for the full liquid diet, which is very helpful, however it says to consume 1 cup of high protein Cream Soup. That's 8oz. But then I read other full liquid diets that say not to consume anything over 4-5ozs at any setting. So I'm baffled. It's on the list of things to ask the surgeon and/or staff. In addition to this, the surgeons directions are to make every meal high protein by adding Carnation Instant Non-Fat Dry Milk to the food, following the directions on the box...there are no directions, other than how to make a quart of milk...and how to make an 8 oz glass of milk.  I feel so stupid right now!
I've been taking my multi-vitamin, my Pepcid & B12 daily...it's not too bad...they're all chewable and flavored so it's like I'm a kid again!
OH...back to cream soups for a second...I bought Oyster Soup...thought this would be PERFECT, I'll strain it, it'll be a different flavor...um, NO. I opened that can, and thought I was going to loose what little tiny bit was in my tummy...Speaking of THAT...WHY IN THE WORLD do some things make my stomach cringe now?  Not just food...but stupid things that mean nothing...they certainly affect me now.
Ugh, okay...so enough of me rambling...I won't blog tomorrow...4 hour drive to Topeka, vist with the doc, then 4 hours back...I'll be resting when I get home.
Have a good one...
