5 years and counting!

Dec 05, 2012

Hi All,

Happy Anniversary to me!  5 years since my surgery and what a ride it has been.  Ups and downs, twist and turns. But at last I can honestly say that it was all worth it.  From losing my taste buds for one year, to going into ketosis, to losing 130 lbs very quickly.  I still think/want to have surgery but my family is loudly vetoing that option.  Who knows what the future will hold!

After 5 years I am still maintaining my weight loss without a problem.  I still look in the mirror in amazement.  Yes, it's true you will always have to take a multi-vitamin, B-12 especially!  My muscle tone has increased and I love the gym.

One thing I will emphasize is that to be successful you must be mentally prepared for all that will hit you.  Your mind can play a lot of games and have you going off in areas that you should be avoiding.  Counseling should be required for at least 1-2 years after surgery to help deal with these issues.

Overall, again I'll say that I'm glad I had the surgery because the lower back pain I was starting to have was a sure sign of not so good things to come.

Until next time!

WoW! It's been a minute

Dec 09, 2010

Hi All,

It's been a long time since I've posted something on this site!

Well let me catch you up.  It's been 3 yrs since my surgery and I can finally say I'm am doing great!  I have maintain my loss and feel like a new woman!  I'm currently a size 6, a big difference from a size 22-24.  I no longer have back problems and can now strut in my 3 inch heels. LOL

I must be honest and say that for a while I though I had made a bad decision because I struggle for quite a long time to get it together.  With going into ketosis and not being able to eat and my weight falling so quickly to 109lbs.  But to God be the glory!  I'm back to a 'normal' weight, working out, and trying to maintain those vitamin levels!

I have encountered so many people considering weight loss surgery and am honored that they ask for my testimony.  I'm quite honest and candid with them and it seems to be appreciated.

All I can say is think long and hard about surgery.  Be prepared to fight your mind over your body to break some life long habits.

In Peace and Love

Still Going!

Mar 17, 2008

3 months post op and I've lost 50lbs so far!

I'm having trouble eating solid foods.  It feels like my stomach does not want it and always feels full. So, liquids it is!  I'm sure that eventually this will correct itself.

Even with this problem, I believe I am excited about this journey.  I know that family and friends are amazed at the difference in my look and figure.  I'm wondering what to do with these "bat wings" hanging from my arms and is there any way to tighten this up?

That's all for now will keep you posted.

Jan 10, 2008

I lost 23lbs so far.  Everyday is an adventure with my stomach.  Some days are wonderful others are oh my!

I sure 6 months from now I'll look back and say it was worth it all.

The positive:  I can now fit into clothes that I've had in my closet with tags still on them for quite a long time!  Now that brings a smile to my face.

Hi all, I'm feeling great! I am 5-days post-op and have experienced no pain, nausea or vomiting! Praise to Dr. DeMaria! I'm now working on convincing my mind that I don't need to eat but drinking is completely acceptable. I have been so blessed. Will keep you posted.
