Another code had to be approved by the insurance company because my surgery is a revision (surgeon calls it a conversion). Finally it is approved and I have a date; November 15th!!

After 4-1/2 months of jumping through all of the hoops for approval, I was approved on September. 19. Found out on September 27...letter got lost. Then became discouraged because I didn't know where the $2175 (half of my out of pocket) was coming from. Surgeron required 1/2 before he will book surgery. Amazing miracle today..friend loaned me the money so on Monday I can book the surgery. Am praying and claiming a date no later than October 25 because my sister is on vacation that week and will come down from Tenneessee to be with me for the surgery and a few days afterwards. I am soooooo happy and grateful!!!!!!! Thank you God!!!! Thank you my wonderful friend!!!!!! This is the second time this friend has come to my aid in a big way..this time twice as much money involved and I still had not finished paying her the other money back from last year. She is certainly an Angel sent to me!!!!

Went for consultation with surgeon. Most of everything he requires, I already knew about and just have to pull together (letters from PCP, cardiologist, psychitrist, psychologist). All my doctors are already on board. Just have to make appointments with them, so they can do their letters. Have to have a stress test done and blood work, plus see a nutritionist.

Had to pay $250 (ouch!) for the consult. Supposingly insurance companies don't pay for consults for WLS anymore.

Doctor said he follows revisions a year, so he says I will have $2500-$4500 out of pocket expenses for that follow-up that the insurance company won't pay. His receptionist said he wants it all up front. Then she said at least half. Then she said it was between he and I.
