Hi! My name is Laurie Parker. I'm from Scotts Mills Oregon, married to an Army Guardsman mom of two teens and going through the pathways at Madigan at Ft. Lewis. Impatiently waiting to schedule my appointment with the doc in order to schedule surgery.
I have been overweight as long as I can remember, and it has gradually gotten worse the past 16 years since the birth of my second child. I have tried EVERYTHING out there, and some things work for awhile and others don't work at all. People ask me how skinny I want to get and I have to laugh at them and say that I'm not doing this to be skinny, I'm doing this to be healthy. I have been diagnosed with Syndrome X or metablolic syndrome. I take metformin and have had to take insulin type injections. I take high b/p meds and I'm tired all the time and just want to be able to do things that I have had to just sit back and watch for so long now.
I have been battling with various insurances over the past 5 years to get this done. I know that I don't know everything about the surgery but I would have to say I am quite educated with the insurance part of it.
My husband and I have been married since Halloween 2010 and everyone asks me what he got me for a wedding present, as crazy as it sounds being able to have the opportunity to have this procedure done is the greatest gift he could have given me.
Please friend me as I am wanting to glean as much information from everyone that I can. I went to a support group last week, and that was the BEST usefull information I could have ever gotten.
