Question:
Anyone have MD-IPA and get approved

Hi. I have MAMSI MD-IPA (POS). I called them and they said they do cover WLS as long as it is medically necessary. However, I have also heard a lot of bad about them. I was just wondering, if anyone has this insurance and how hard was it to get approval especially since the new law was passed in October 2001? I did a little research for you on this site. If you go to the top of any page and click on "insurers", and follow the links you will find some helpful info about your company. Here is the page with the info you are seeking http://www.obesityhelp.com/morbidobesity/insurers2.phtml?State=MD&Page=4 The insurers are listed alphabetically so scroll down this page. There are two sections the first is under "Mamsi, etc..." the second (scroll down) is under"MDIPA" (alphabetically they are separated). There appear to be more approvals than denials and some approvals have been the result of appeals. Included here are members' comments and their e-mail addresses so maybe you could e-mail them your specific questions. Hope this helps. Shelley
