Question:
Anyone experience pain about 45 minutes after eating - not dumping?

At 10 days, I was allowed to start solid foods - primarily proteins. I had no problems with fish, shrimp, steak, chicken or beef. Then, 3 1/2 weeks post-op, I started experiencing uncomfortable pains in my stomach and lower abdomen about 45 minutes after eating these same foods. Anyone else experience this and what was it? My surgeon just told me to go back on liquids for a while. I don't seem to be having any of the effects of dumping...and I don't have a problem getting the food down...and no nausea. Any personal experiences?    — Sandy W. (posted on September 8, 2002)

Sandy, I had problems like you and I went to my regular doctor. He gave me some medicine to control intestine spasms. I would just about double over with cramps and gas that was trapped in there. It helped a lot and my surgeon told me to slow down when I ate. He said to put my fork or spoon down in between bites and to chew very well. I was also haveing pains under my pouch. I had to go back and measure everything I eat again. I hope this helps. I can only eat about 2 ounces at a time. :)
