Question:
Is there a chewable calcium citrate out there?

I purchased Caltrate recently and was advised that I needed to find a different brand per Caltrate's main ingredient is calcium carbonate. I am having a hard time finding calcium citrate sugar free in liquid or chewable. Please help. I am pre-op and trying to make sure I have everything before surgery. Thanks. Twinlab makes a chewable calcium citrate wafer which should be available at your local GNC. You can go to this page: http://www.twinlab.com/sold.htm and enter in your zip code and it will come back with all of the stores in your area that sell Twinlab products.

ALOHA!!!! The previous poster mentioned TwinLabs Chewable Calcium Citrate Wafer. I bought some online. The only problem is that you have to take SIX per day. And they are HUGE suckers!!! Not to mention they taste like Shock Tarts, which I can't handle. After a month of chewing them up (seems like that is all I did all day was chew those darned wafers... which I thought would be THIN and rather small...but NOPE!!), I switched to Tropical Oasis Liquid Calcium Citrate with Magnesium. I only have to take 1 tablespoon per day, which works for me. The stuff LOOKS nasty (sort of like Milk of Magnesia) but it tastes far better than it looks. The nice thing about the liquid Calcium Citrate is that it is rapidly absorbed into your system which increases the amount absorbed. Hope this helps!!! Hugs, Kathie (in Hawaii).... CITIRICAL...it has elemental calcium in it..which is what we process and metabolize the best...you will want to take 1000 to 1500 mg daily. Good luck.

The previous poster said she takes TUMS, that is NOT calcium CITRATE! It is calcium CARBONATE. We do not absorb the CARBONATE because of the bypass! Please find something that is calcium CITRATE! I take Citrical also. It is a large pill but it goes down just fine!

Hi, I use Caltrate 600 plus chewables. It comes in assorted fruit flavor. The box is white with orange and says chewables right on it. I like them, hope this helps

I use a liquid that I found at www.vitaminworld.com. It comes in several flavors. I have tried lemon custard and blueberry (which for some reason has more calcium in it than the other flavors) and they taste a little like chalky yogurt. You get 600 mg calcium citrate per tablespoon (750 for the blueberry). I take it just like I am taking a dose of Maalox or something, once in the morning and once at night. I wish I'd had this early on as a postie! Price is about $10 for 16 oz.

To the poster taking the Caltrate - this is also calcium carbonate - not calcium citrate (the name of the product is deceiving) - check your label! You need to be on calcium citrate instead...JR

I take calcium citrate in chewable form. It is made by twin labs and you can view it on their site. www.twinlabs.com there you will find many of the different vitamins they have so be careful as to choose the right one. I myself don't get mine online because I have a health food store right near my house that carries this product. It runs me about $11.00 for a 1 month supply.
