Question:
How soon can I return to work being a school bus driver?

Is anyone out there a school bus driver that is post-op? I was if it is safe to take the minimum amount of time. I only drive 2 hours in the am and 2 and a half in the pm so I can nap in between if I get tired. I would like to go back to work as soon as I can drive. Thanks for your help.    — lisab. Do ask your surgeon, but because of the hernia risk if your open it will likewly be at least 6 weeks to 2 months minimum. Bus drivers are physical jobs, unless you have auto transmission and power steering?

Hi Im a Bus driver and chose to do my surgery after school gets out so there is no stress on myself worrying I will put anyone else out at the school. You just can never tell what problems could arise and OUR job is not easily filled like some huh!!! lol ~my motto: don't worry all you're problems are behind me~ hehehehe

I am a bus driver and I took off 7 weeks. I should have stayed off 8 weeks. I had open RNY.The first week was so hard.I read your profile and it doesn't say what type you had, but I strongly suggest 8 weeks if you possibly can. Good luck....

I teach and drive a bus. I went back to teaching in two weeks and driving after 4 weeks. I have automatic steering and transmission on my bus though. I wouldn't have wanted the bouncing before that though. Open RNY Oct. 17,2001 at 5'6" and 265. Down to 145!
