Question:
I am now 8 days post op, having had lap gallbladder and lap RNY on 1/31/03.

After a 4 night hospital stay, I came home expecting to be greatly improved by this time. I am having problems with severe burning pain at a couple of incision sites on my left side. The Dr. feels it is from internal stitches that will dissolve at 7 - 10 days. I find almost no comfortable way to walk, lay down, or just move in general. I'm wearing a binder - have tried both with and without it. I have to hold my hand tightly to the painful spot to try to hold it together to get around at all. Has anyone else had this? Any suggestions for relief?    — mindystarr25 (posted on February 8, 2003)

My suggestion for getting thru this difficult time: Percocet! This is the time to take your prescribed pain meds and rest when you can. In a week or so you'll start feeling fantastic! Hang in there...

Hi Nancy, Hang in there sweetie. I had the same problem, and felt like I would never be able to move easy again. I was always holding my hands to my mid section when walking or moving about. Like the previous poster, I suggest you take your paid meds and get all the rest you can. In a week or so this will all be a memory. Good luck and take care. Hugs and smiles..

Oh.. and one more thing.. I know it isn't easy to not do for yourself, but let your family help in any way they can while you on the slow track.
