Question:
I am 4 weeks out and am taking my calcium, b12 and 2 Flintstone's with iron

Does anyone take Flintstone with Iron? Is this a sufficient amount of Iron, or should I be taking another supplement of Iron also? My Dr./Nutritionist doesn't list what amt of Iron I should get daily - they do require 1200 mg calcium, so I wondered what all you other POSTIE'S do? Thanks for sharing. -JG    — J G. My surgeon had me take 2 Flintstones with Iron a day until I was 10 weeks post-op. I then started Prenatal vitamins from WalMart - Spring Valley brand. They have extra iron in them. I have never taken iron other than what was in the multivitamins and have never had a problem.

I have been taking the vitamins for gastric bypass patients by Vista Vitamins. My doctor sells them, but I had to order the pre-op and immediately post-op vitamins on line. It has everything that you need. You have to chew 5 of them throughout a day. They are endorsed by Carnie Wilson.

I take Flintstones with Iron, it's one of the vitamins on my Doctor's list. In addition, he still has menstruating females take additional iron a couple of days a week.

I also take Flintstones, twice a day. I take the Flintstones Complete. They have slightly more iron than the ones labelled Flintstones with Iron. I just had bloodwork done last week and am not seeing the Dr to get the results until the middle of next month. The office told me they would call if there were any problems before then. I also take B12 every other day and calcium citrate 1000 mg daily. I feel good, and will add whatever the Dr feels may be necessary.

Maybe you should ask your doctor/nutritionist how much they recommend. If they have you on a program, they are the ones you should be asking about this.

I got Iron from my doctor, it is a prescription called 'TRINSICON" I get the generic one and my insurance pays for it so only costs me 5 dollars, cheaper than buying the other Iron off the shelf. It is absorbed better also for us as well as does not cause the constipation that regular Iron does. All my blood tests come back great!!
