Question:
I have pain slightly above my belly button near and incision

that is really sharp. The area is kind of sunken in and the skin is still numb from surgery. I had lap gastric bypass 8 days ago and this is the first time I have had this pain. I might have kind of overdid it yesterday but I am not sure if it is that. I have an appointment with the surgeon for a follow up this week but I am curious if anyone knows what could cause this.    — horserider0146 (posted on July 5, 2003)

I had the same kind of pain in the same location as you do. I went to the doctor and was informed that I had an infection (that I am still trying to get rid of today--I had my sugery seven weeks ago.).

Hi there,Alannah! I agree with the previous poster, It very well may be an infection. I had one and ended up back in the hospital for almost another week. Call your doctor as soon as possible, that way if it does turn out to be an infection, then you can start on antibiotics. Hope it goes well. Vi. Open RNY 9/23/02 down 142 lbs.
