Question:
What is this burning sensation I have right below collar bone up to bottom of throat?

I have a burning sensation in the upper chest right in the middle that seems to go up to the bottom of my throat area. It seems to be sort of constant. The feeling is there, but I am not in any major pain or anything. It doesn't seems to have much to do with eating. Like, I haven't eaten yet today and it is there. Any ideas? Thanks!    — Kim B (posted on September 22, 2003)

Hi Kim I am not forsure but it could be acid reflux, I don't have alot of the burning sensation with mine but I do have alot of the acid stuff in my throat so the doc put me on nexium to help out with that. But, it does sound like the symptoms you are having so check with your doc about that. Good luck to you!

It's acid reflux. It started on me at 10 months postop. We have had a hard time getting it under control. I am now on 4 medications. I take previcid 2x day, Zelnorm 2X day and my doc just started me on Zantac 2x day. The forth on is an as needed (can't remember the name)it is suppose to coat my tummy. When I have that burning sensation (also feels like my thoat is full of food) I found that drinking a hot cup of tea releaves it the fastest. I also had an endoscopy done and found I have damage in the esphogus that won't heal until the acid reflux is under control. Good luck

Just an fyi.....I'm 3 months postop and have a hard time with pills mainly due to strictures.I've been put back on prevacid. My doc prescribed the granules so they are not in pill form. They come in little individual packets that you mix with 2 tablespoons of water and they are cherry flavored.
