Question:
DID YOU HAVE ADHESIONS CUT DURING WLS SURGERY?

I am experiencing a lot of pains and lack of mobility due to the adhesions I had cut that were necessary in order for me to have WLS. Does anyone have any information they can give me on recovery and what to expect, or their story?    — Happy Mommy (posted on October 20, 2003)

i guess i don't understand what you are saying. I had wls in Feb. and because i also had a major stomach surgery last year, my belly was full of adhesions. The doc cut them out while he was doing my surgery. The recovery time was the same. The actual surgery took a little longer than expected because of them and they knew i would have some going in. had nothing to do with if i could have surgery or not. i hope you get an answe. Good luck

i reread your question. I didn't have anymore pain than I would have had if I hadn't had adhesions. i only took pain meds once after coming home. You really can't tell if the pain and lack of mobility is from adhesions or your surgery in general. It probably is from your surgery. The only thing that affected my mobility a couple of days was the big old rny cut down my middle.

I had a lot of adhesions removed from a prior gallbladder surgery during the rny. I didn't experience any pain other than what I expected from normal surgery. I feel the side benefit of this is the adhesions are GONE and that can only contribute to my better health in the long run.

I had LAP RNY, and my doctor cut some adhesions I had from a hysterectomy 6 years ealier. It has helped me alot. I use to get a painful pulling sensation in my lower abdominal area and never knew what it was from. I have not had any discomfort since. I was very thankful for having the adhesions cut. Having the adhesions done did not affect me one bit with the recovery or the pain afterwards. Good luck
