Question:
arm lift and breast augment. . .

I posted this on the PS website and really didn't get a response. I am 3 1/2 wks. post op from a brachioplasy (arm lift) and breast lift with implants. I would love to hear from others about their experiences. I am still having quite a bit of soreness, especially in my breasts (behind the muscle implants) and wondered if this was normal at this stage. It just seems like it's taking a long time to heal. My arms still hurt, but they are not as bad as my breasts. How long, typically, does it take to not hurt. I mean, they are soooo sensitive and sore. I've been doing the massaging, but there are nights that I can barely sleep from the discomfort. I'm no spring chicken, so maybe that's part of it.    — Kathy S. (posted on April 30, 2004)

I can't speak to the augment, but I'm 5 weeks post-op breast lift and arm lift. Breasts are tender in the nipple area but no soreness left at all. The arms are peculiar to say the least. I still can't hyper-extend it or something pulls on the underneath side of the forearm. I cannot lift my arms to try to reach the ceiling or else I get a pulling/tugging sensation. At night, I wake up from aches and discomfort in my arms. No pain, just aches. Just wanted you to know that we're in the same boat. My PS check is in one week. I'm hoping for some answers.

Hi, i just posted almost the same question yesterday. I am 9 weeks post-op arm and breast lift. I went to my doctor today and he said that it is a good sign that I am having some pain. He just thinks that things are settling down and that the nerves are just hypersensitive at this point. I thought I was just being a wimp.

Monday I will be 9 weeks post-op from arm lift and implants. I am past the soreness all the time. I do still have a pain shoot through my nipples and somewhere in the upper back side of the arm every once in awhile. I have slept with a pillow on each side of me in the bed since surgery to prop my arms on. It seems to help alot. I never really had much swelling in the breast area. I did have the swelling in the arms and hands and the pillows did help with that. Good luck,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Jane

Okay, great question because it just helped me decide not to do my arms and possibly breat work in August, 9 weeks before my wedding. Sounds like it's a longer recovery to normal than I expected. Looks like spring 2005 for me. I plan to get my legs done in Nov and I know that is an ugly swelling recovery. I assume everyone is happy with the results but still just struggling with the pain, numbness etc. At least I hope so.
