Question:
Denied for length of gastric bypass???

I have a few days left to file an appeal. I am in the process of securing an attorney. Has anyone else gone through this? The length of the gastric bypass? I would imagine that the surgeon knows more than the panel of nurses at Anthem.    — Elyse1116 (posted on September 27, 2004)

Are you saying the surgeon has a predetermined length for the bypass surgery? My insurance would only approve to 70cm bypassed so that is what my surgeon complied with. I am not sure I understand your question. Can you rephrase it or clarify it?

some insurances do NOT cover DISTALS... which is over 150 ... without 'pre approval'... how much did your doctor want to do? If they are denying for like what the other poster said 70 I CERTAINLY would appeal..... thats rediculas... If your doctor wants to do over 150 then appeal .. there must be a reason he feels y ou need it...
