Question:
Left side cramping pain.

I woke up with left side cramping pain. Just under my ribs. Like the cramp you get from running a long time. Could it be gas? I just hate to jump up and run to the Dr. everytime I have a pain. Anyone have any suggestions? Lesleigh in Ga.    — lesleigh07 (posted on May 30, 2008)

Hi Dear Friend--- sorry to hear this, however, I too get the same pain you are discribing :( and it hurts. I find mine to start after exercising, and even walking.. I have not had gas with it. I think you will be ok. are you doing anything different? maybe more than what you should be? I wish I had the answer for this, only can tell you, I experiance it too. I find if I just sit still, it will eventually go away.......hope you get better. can't have such a Special Lady in Pain :(

I have had this pain occasionally, usually after a serious exercise and/or sit up session the night before. If I get up and stretch and take a hot shower and a couple of tylenol, it usually goes away. If yours does not, call the doc of course. Good luck, Dawn Vickers, RN, BLC, CLC

I got the same thing the other day. It lasted for about 2 days, and now it seems to be gone. That is weird. I had Lapband 9 days ago, and I see you had RNY - wonder what it could be. I woke up with mine too and it had nothing to do with exercise, but if I coughed or took in a deep breath, it really hurt.

Well for once I have the answer!!! I spent 12 hours in the emergency room about a month ago!!! I had the band 12/20/7. They say you are still healing. The emerg room couldnt figure out what it was. It didnt feel like the port cause it was off to the side like you say. I had gardened the day before so the dr told me it was from bending and bending! The port was really sore when I touched it. They wouldnt give me a fill :(. They had me take tylenol and put ice on for 2 weeks. It does feel better. My pain was so bad, I was worried. If you have any other questions about this, email me. It seemed crazy to me, but my dr asked immediately if I was gardening. Go figure! Linda

My pain feels like someone is gripping and twisting my insides then releasing and fading... Only to do it again for about 5 minutes. Ladies laxatives are what I am taking, only after going to the ER and to my Dr. to find out what was wrong. Neither the Dr. nor the ER could find a problem. I took two of the laxatives and so far the pain is lessening every day! I hope this helps someone. P.S. a heating pad feels great and relieves alot of the pain for a while.
