I am not sure what your question is, but I take biotin 2/day to help with my hair and skin. I was told after surgery people had lost hair so I reached Biotin would help make my hair stronger.

Sorry for the vague question, I thought I was searching on previous questions. I am 12 wks. post op RNY and am having a lot of hair loss, however my Dr. says my body will eventually even out and hair loss will slow down and hair will regrow. As much as I want to believe that it doesn't help with the thin hair now. How much Biotin do you take and/or what do you do to help reduce the loss?

I take 1000 mcg of Biotin a day. I would take more but I can't tolerate capsules. I am 6 months out and I have considerable hair loss. But like previous post my Dr says it will slow down and regrow when my weight loss slows.

I take one capsule a day of biotin, however, are you getting enough protein daily? If you are not getting your 60 grams of protein, you will have hairloss also. Good luck

Hi, I am 9 1/2 mos post op have taken 5000mcg chewable Biotin daily since the beginning. I have no hair loss! I concentrated on enough protein... chewable flinstone vit, chewable calcium citrate and chewable Biotin... I was told in the very beginning that chewable is the key... if you continue everything chewable it will work, and it has for me :) GOOD LUCK!

I've been on biotin since my surgery in Nov 2009. In March of this year I started losing my hair. I was heartbroken. My hair was very, very long and I felt ugly even with the weight loss. It is now coming back in. They say that it's not getting enough protein but I've never been less than 90 grms of protein a day. I think it is the result of the major surgery. It is very traumatic to our bodies. Hang in there. Take the biotin every day and wait.

hi Darcy, I'm 9 and 1/2 months out and my hair started falling out when I was 3-4 months out then I read about biotin on this site so I started to take one 5000mcg of biotin a day and my hair started to grow back after 3 months and my dr. had also prescribed a prenatal vitamin which I believe is helping too. so don't worry too much it will grow (slowly so be patient)back. I hope this helps.

I'm 2 years post op now. I did not find biotin very helpful. I did have some success with increasing my protein way beyond the minimum requirements outlined by my surgeons office. Given time though, your hair will recover. I know it's a horrible feeling when you see it on the pillow and in the shower, but believe me, it will grow back!
