Question:
Could this be gall bladder problems?

I am pre-op and have been having a strange pressure feeling under my right breast just under my ribs. It doesn't feel like gas, it feels more like when I was pregnant and the baby was putting pressure on my ribs. It gets worse after I eat. It's not a sharp pain, more of a nuisance. I can feel it wobble like from left to right (about 1/2 inch each way). It almost feels like I am swollen under my ribs. I burp and belch like a drunken sailor and on Sunday I had a spell with cramping and fever, but I did not relate them to each other. Please let me know if this sounds familiar to you. Thanks a bunch!    — leighsme (posted on May 30, 2002)

Wow, I don't know the answer but I have this same problem. I mostly notice it when I am trying to sleep, but I do notice it during the day if I pay attention. It is that feeling of pressure in the same place you say, on my right side under my ribcage. For a long time I kept on tring to see if there was a lump in my mattress that was poking me there, but I finally figured out that it was coming from inside instead of outside. I am hoping that whatever it is- maybe liver or gallbladder like you say, will shrink after my surgery. Hope we get more posts on this question- it is good to know I'm not just crazy! =)

Of course I am not a doctor so am not for sure but I had many gallbladder attacks over 5 yrs before evn having it checking it always happened when I was pregnant until the last time when I finally had it checked and removed to find out I had been living with over 70 stones. My pain was always a pin under my chest that went to my back and sort of took my breathe away. I could not lay down in any position while having it and it always lasted hours until it would finally disappear like it was never there. So it may be but mine was always very intense. Good luck it only takes a songram to find out.

is the pain worse when you eat certain foods? it's been a long time since i had my gall bladder removed, but my sister just had hers out. she had a lot of naseua (?) and vomiting. also a lot of cramping. high fatty foods or spicy foods will make it worse...good luck

when I had problems with my gall bladder it felt like a spot under my ribs on my right side thru to my shoulder blade.I kept telling my husband I had a sore spot about the size of a quarter on my back and making him check and see if I had a bruise. The only way I could sit comfortable was with my right arm over my head, that was kind of strange looking when I was driving. My Docter gave me 25 of my 75 stones in a bottle and I have thought of making a bracelet of them. I show them and tell my husband "see, I told you I was sick". Elizabeth C.

It's the poster, Leigh. I just got out of my dr's office and he said it did indeed sound like my gall bladder. I am scheduled to have a gall bladder ultrasound in the morning. Thanks for all of your help!
