Question:
Do I quailfy at 255 lbs- 5'7" tall

I was just wondering if anyone out there was 255 lbs- and 5'7" inches tall and had the surgery? I would love to hear you story. I'm afraid I will not qualify I would appreciate any imformation. Thank you for your time. KARI    — huntersavage (posted on January 9, 2006)

Hi Kari, I took your information and did a BMI calculation. According to that you qualify with a BMI of 39. That high makes you obese. Do you have any health issues such as sleep apnea, arthritis, diabetes, or high blood pressure? Those would also help you quailify. Hope this helps. Pam

Hi Kari, I weighted 257 and 5'7 tall and I qualified just barely. I had surgery on 9/24/05. It only took me about a month to get approved and have all my pre test done. Good luck if you would like more information you can e-mail me @ [email protected] Terrie

Hi Kari, I am 5'7" and weigh in at 235. I qualified because of high blood pressure. My Surgeon at Barix clinic in PA said that if you are close to the cut off they will still do the surgery. It is considered on a case by case basis. Best of Luck, Susan

Hi Kari, It depends on your insurance. I weighed 247lbs at 5'7 and qualified. I had no co-morbities (yet). I am now a little over 2 years post-op and have reached my goal weight. If this is something you want, don't give up. ~Blessings, Cristal~

Hi Kari, I was 5'7" and weighed 250...I had surgery 7/5/05 and have lost 76 pounds. I had diabetes, and high blood pressure and therefore qualified with co-morbodites. I went for my first consultation May 19th last year and by the 5th of July was approved, had all my tests, and went in for surgery. Good luck, Kaitlain
