I have been using the Carb Solution Bars. They come in a variety of flavors and each has only 2-3 usable carbs and 20+ grams of protein. They have worked well for me.

Hi There! My surgeon has me on Pro Complex. And I understand that for the best percentages of protein, carbs, etc. that the new "Advantage" is the optimum. They have drinks, bars, etc. I am pre-op, going soon to San Diego. Hope you try this, I know some diabetics in my group who were advised the same thing. God Bless and Good Hunting!

I've tried carb solutions, atkins bars, and the balance bars. The balance bars are the only ones I don't dump on. One of the small bars is about 1.7 ox, has 22 g of carbs and 14 g of protein. I'ts the only one I've found that doens't taste like cardboard or sawdust and doens't make me sick.

fyi, balance gold bars (which i also find to be much tastier than many of the protein bars) have 15 grams of sugar vs. 22 for plain ol' balance bars.

The only protein bars that I use are the EAS ADVANT EDGE brand. they have 25 g protein---3 g of impact carbs and only 1 g of sugar. My favorite is the Chocolate Chip Brownie flavor and the cookies and cream is real good too. You can get them at Walmart. If you have a Sams Club, they sell them by the box and that is a bit cheaper.

The only bar that don't taste like vitamins to me is the Zone Perfect bars. They are like a Whatchamacallit candy bar, light with crunchy rice krispies. The fudge graham one tastes like an oatmeal scotchie. They sell them at Wal-Mart for $.97 and they have 15 grams of protein and 12 grams of sugar.

the biochem 'strive' bars, 20 gms of protein, and 24 gms of total carbs (3 gms of net impact carbs) and 0 gms of sugar, 190 calories/2.1 oz bar. there are 3 flavors - mixed berry, choc raspberry, and s'mores. the texture is like a whatchamacallit, and they have the best taste, in my opinion.
