Question:
Does anyone get dizzy while walking?

I can't get any excerise because of this. If I walk any distance I feel dizzy Could it be my blood sugar?    — Barbara B. (posted on January 30, 2002)

Low blood pressure caused this in me. Got me off the BP meds. Worst late in the afternoon, and made worse by being a bit dehydrated.

I am going thru this right now. I have been dizzy periodically since this past Sunday. I went for my daily walk at lunchtime on Monday and when I got back I thought I was going to pass out -- it lasted for more than an hour and I had to still wait on customers, etc. I went to the doctor Wednesday and got some blood work done. I agree with Bob that if you are on b.p. meds, then it's time to decrease them or take them every other day maybe? I know my doctor said it's very dangerous to take someone completely off the b.p. med and that's why it's called the "silent killer". He said he would leave that call to my surgeon. I'm 12 weeks post op and down 50 lbs. So I'm going to do the every-other-day thing for now. That, and cut my meds in half.

I agree with Barb. When I experienced this in the past it was a combination of needing to come off my blood pressure medication and the need to drink more water! When I experience this now from time to time, it's a red flag for me that I need to drink more! Good Luck!

What I did was check my BP at the grocery store, they have a free tester machine. When I found it 85 over 58 down from pre op 130 over 110 on meds I called my PCP and he said quit taking them now. I was in danger of fainting.

PLEASE READ THIS......DO NOT cut your blood pressure medications in half unless you speak to your doctor first....some meds have time release coatings and by cutting them you can really have problems with absorption.....I speak from experience....don't find your self in the emergency room with your blood pressure bottomed out....it is not pleasant.

I don't get dizzy while walking but I keep feeling like I'm going to pass out when I stand up quick. It's driving me nuts. I see stars everywhere and I'm afraid I'm going to fall. Perhaps you should ask your doctor what is going on.

Hello Guys!! I personally don't think that it is related to Blood Pressure. I am 10 months post-op and was never on any type of BP meds. Since about 3 months post-op I started feeling dizzy when I stood up. I fainted once and feel like I'm going to faint all of the time. This happens everyday for me, usually when I'm in a relaxed environment. After fainting I had bloodwork done and nothing came back. The surgeons response is "due to the rapid weight loss, my body is just adjusting..... How long does it need to adjust, cause this is a pain in the ***!!!!! I guess I've gotten used to it, I know now that I better have something I can grab onto when standing up. This sucks!!!!
